After the recent release of the official images, Kia now shares more details about its flagship electric SUV, the 2024 Kia EV9. This includes specifications, dimensions, and features.

Built on Hyundai’s Global Electric-Modular Platform (E-GMP), the Kia EV9 is a three-row electric SUV that comes in three different drivetrain configurations, all featuring the latest fourth-generation battery technology.

The base variant is the EV9 RWD Standard, equipped with a 76.1-kilowatt-hour battery pack that powers an electric motor producing 215 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque. With this powertrain, the Kia EV9 RWD Standard can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 8.2 seconds.

For those who prioritize range over performance, there’s the Kia EV9 RWD Long Range option, which comes with a larger 99.8-kilowatt-hour battery pack and an electric motor delivering 201 horsepower. It can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 9.4 seconds and has an estimated range of over 336 miles (541 km) according to WLTP testing, when equipped with 19-inch wheels.

This larger battery pack also powers the range-topping EV9 AWD, which uses two electric motors to deliver a combined power output of 380 horsepower and maximum torque of 600 Nm. With this powertrain, the electric SUV can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 6.0 seconds.

If that’s not fast enough, the EV9 AWD also offers an optional Boost function that reduces the car’s acceleration time to an impressive 5.3 seconds.

Kia has not yet disclosed the range of the EV9 RWD Standard and EV9 AWD, but it has announced that the 800-volt super-fast charging system will provide an additional 238 km in about 15 minutes of charging.

Like other models based on the E-GMP platform, the EV9 features Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, allowing the vehicle to supply electricity to external electrical devices through a built-in socket system.

One of the key technological highlights of the EV9 is its highway driving assist system, which enables Level 3 autonomous driving under certain conditions. Equipped with 15 sensors, the highway driving assist system offers a full 360-degree field of view to scan and detect objects, preventing potential collisions.

In addition, the EV9 is equipped with the Kia Connect Store feature, allowing customers to purchase on-demand digital features and services. This enables users to continuously upgrade the capabilities of their EV9 through over-the-air (OTA) updates at any time.

The EV9 also comes with Kia’s Digital Key 2, which utilizes Ultra-Wide Band (UWB) technology, enabling users to unlock and start the vehicle with their smartphones even when the key is within a pocket or purse.

When it comes to Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), the EV9 offers an extensive list of features, including Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Avoidance Assist (RCCA), Blind-Spot Avoidance Assist (BCA), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (ISLA), and Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control (NSCC), among others.

In terms of dimensions, the EV9 has similar measurements to the Telluride, with a length of 5,010 mm, a width of 1,980 mm, and a height of 1,755 mm. The wheelbase measures 3,100 mm.

Kia offers the crossover in either a 6-seater or 7-seater configuration, providing spacious seating for all passengers in the comfort of a first-class waiting lounge.

Additionally, the second-row seats of the vehicle can be rotated 180 degrees, allowing passengers in the second and third rows to interact. The third-row occupants are also provided with cup holders and charging ports.

In addition to the standard model unveiled earlier this month, the Kia EV9 will also offer a sportier GT-Line variant with enhanced styling, including different front and rear bumpers, wheels, and special paint colors.

The Kia EV9 will have its public debut at the Seoul Mobility Show 2023 later this month, followed by an unveiling at the New York International Auto Show in early April.
