Kia recently revealed the release schedule for the upgraded version of their A-segment SUV, the Sonet. The official unveiling of the car will take place on December 14, with the price set to be announced in early 2024.
While detailed information about the car has not been disclosed yet, images of the vehicle have been circulating on various social media platforms for the past few months.
The exterior design of the 2024 Sonet remains largely unchanged from its predecessor. The car has only undergone minor design adjustments, such as a refreshed front bumper and headlamp cluster. The redesigned daytime running lights and fog lights also contribute to a more impressive look.
At the rear, the taillight cluster has been redesigned to a vertical shape, complemented by a horizontal strip of lights connecting both taillights. The rear bumper has also been revamped with a thicker silver-colored trim, similar to the front bumper.
The only other notable change to the exterior of the car is the introduction of new alloy wheels. The car will come with two types of new alloy wheels, featuring a 2-tone scraped design, depending on the variant.
Since it is a facelift version, the interior space of the 2024 Kia Sonet will only see slight upgrades. The car will feature a new interior color, along with a digital instrument cluster and updated air conditioning control buttons.
In terms of safety equipment, the 2024 Kia Sonet is expected to be equipped with 6 airbags and advanced driving-assist features such as forward collision warning, lane departure warning, forward collision avoidance assist, adaptive headlights, lane-keeping assist, and driver attention warning.
As an intermediate update, the 2024 Kia Sonet is expected to retain its existing engine options. The car will offer 3 engine choices, depending on the market. The first is a 1.2L petrol engine with a maximum power of 83 horsepower and a maximum torque of 115 Nm. The second is a turbocharged 1.0L petrol engine with 120 horsepower and 172 Nm of torque. Lastly, there is a 1.5L diesel engine with a maximum power of 116 horsepower and a maximum torque of 250 Nm.
The 1.2L petrol engine will be paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. The other two engines will be available with a 6-speed intelligent manual transmission (iMT), a 6-speed automatic transmission, or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. According to various sources, Kia will introduce a diesel engine version with a manual transmission for this model in the Indian market.
After its launch in India, the new Kia Sonet will be introduced in other markets, including Vietnam.
