Recap of the Incident Involving a Group of SuperCars Surrounded and Seized in HCM City – Long Thanh- Dau Giay

On the evening of February 24, 2023, Road Traffic Control and Patrol Team No. 6 (Team 6, Road Traffic Control and Patrol Instruction Division, Traffic Police Department – C08, BCA) intercepted and captured a convoy of nearly 20 supercars traveling from Sai Gon to Binh Thuan. Several vehicles in the convoy were found to be in violation of various traffic regulations, such as exceeding the speed limit, lacking vehicle registration papers, having expired vehicles, and missing inspection labels.

According to the information from Road Traffic Control and Patrol Team No. 6, two supercars were found to be exceeding the speed limit by more than 20 km/h, up to 35 km/h. Among them, a yellow Lamborghini supercar was caught speeding between 20-35 km/h. Additionally, the car was also found to have insufficient license plates, which raised questions about the penalties for this expensive supercar.

What Will Be the Penalty for the Driver of the Lamborghini Supercar Speeding from 20-35 km/h?

The law applies equally to all drivers, whether they are driving regular cars or supercars. Decree No. 100/2019/ND-CP on administrative penalties for road and railway traffic violations clearly outlines the penalties for violating traffic laws.

For instance, if the driver of the Lamborghini supercar is caught speeding from 20-35 km/h on the HCM City – Long Thanh- Dau Giay highway, they will be subject to a fine at point a, clause 6, item 5, which relates to “driving at a speed exceeding the prescribed limit by over 20 km/h up to 35 km/h,” resulting in a fine ranging from 6 million to 8 million VND. Furthermore, the driver who commits this violation at point a, clause 6, item 5 will also have their driver’s license suspended for a period of 2 to 4 months.

In addition, Team 6 also reported that the Lamborghini supercar had insufficient license plates. Specifically, based on the images shared on social media, the car was only equipped with a license plate at the rear, without one at the front. Therefore, the driver of the Lamborghini car will also receive a fine ranging from 0.8 million to 1 million VND for this violation, as per the provisions at Point c, Item 3 and Item 4, Article 16 of Decree 100/2019/ND-CP.

Therefore, the total penalty that the driver of the Lamborghini car will face for the offenses of speeding from 20-35 km/h and lacking sufficient license plates will range from 6.8 million to 9 million VND.
