Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the high-performance variants of the Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 and 63 S E Performance Coupe following the launch of the new generation of this luxury GLC Coupe SUV six months ago.
The AMG GLC 43 and AMG GLC 63 models in this high-performance lineup no longer come with V6 and V8 engines. Instead, they are equipped with new four-cylinder engines. However, they still deliver impressive power output compared to the previous generation, all thanks to advanced technologies derived from Formula 1 racing cars.
Specifically, both models are powered by a new 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine paired with a mild hybrid system.
In the 2024 Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupe, the powertrain generates a total output of 416 horsepower and a maximum torque of 500 Nm. The power is transmitted to all four wheels through a nine-speed automatic transmission. This engine enables the 2024 Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupe to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.7 seconds before reaching a top speed of 250 km/h, limited electronically.
In the case of the 2024 Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S E Performance Coupe, the petrol engine produces a maximum output of 469 horsepower, combined with a powerful 201-horsepower electric motor, a high-performance battery, and the AMG Performance 4Matic+ all-wheel-drive system. This setup results in a total output of up to 671 horsepower and a maximum torque of 1,019 Nm. As a result, the car can sprint from 0-100 km/h in 3.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 275 km/h, limited electronically.
In addition to the engine changes, the high-performance versions feature subtle exterior refinements compared to the standard variants.
Specifically, the 2024 Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 and 63 S E Performance Coupe showcase a more aggressive and sporty appearance, thanks to the addition of a new Panamericana grille with vertical slats, a larger front air intake, and a prominent rear diffuser. To differentiate from the standard version, the high-performance models also sport four diamond-shaped exhaust tips.
Inside the cabin, the two high-performance SUVs are equipped with a sporty AMG Performance steering wheel, along with the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) infotainment system.
Currently, the pricing and availability details for the 2024 AMG GLC have not been disclosed by the German luxury car manufacturer.
