The 2024 Mercedes E-Class has been officially unveiled by the iconic three-pointed star brand, showcasing a completely redesigned interior. One of the standout features of the new E-Class is the optional MBUX Superscreen display, which draws inspiration from the massive MBUX Hyperscreen. While Mercedes didn’t provide detailed specifications, the car boasts a sizable entertainment system and a display for front passengers. Behind the steering wheel, there is a floating digital instrument cluster with Classic and Sport display interfaces.
When it comes to screens, the 2024 E-Class allows for the direct installation of third-party apps, eliminating the need for Android Auto or Apple CarPlay connectivity. To facilitate this capability, Mercedes is introducing an App Store with a constantly expanding app catalog.
Upon launch, the App Store will feature a wide range of apps, including popular ones like Angry Birds, TikTok, Zoom, and Webex. One notable application works in conjunction with the car’s new video and selfie camera system, making use of the MBUX Superscreen display. With this setup, owners can capture photos and record videos while the vehicle is parked.
In order to ensure focused driving, the E-Class offers a “visual shield” system that employs a camera and advanced filtering concept. This setup ensures that the driver is not exposed to distracting content on the screen. Additionally, the system monitors the driver’s eye movements to identify if they are directing their gaze towards the passenger screen for too long. If such an instance occurs, the brightness of the passenger screen automatically dims, allowing passengers to continue enjoying the content while keeping the driver’s attention undisturbed.
Along with the display features, the E-Class boasts an active interior ambient lighting system and a Burmester 4D surround sound system featuring 17 speakers, delivering an immersive music experience that engages all three senses of the occupants.
The E-Class also offers additional technological features such as the Energizing Comfort and Energizing Coach functionalities, as well as 5G technology for fast data transmission.
While Mercedes didn’t disclose many details about the rest of the interior, we can observe the new steering wheel design and a minimalist center console. Buyers will have various options to customize the interior colors, ranging from combinations like “light beige with Space Grey” featuring a luxurious pearl effect, to Tonka Brown and cool gray.
Furthermore, the 2024 E-Class offers Nappa leather seats with diamond pattern stitching, complemented by new Dark Ash wood trim accents. Metal accents and the Manufaktur Piano Lacquer Flowing Lines trim package, similar to the S-Class, add an extra touch of elegance to the interior.
