The iconic blue Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 has unexpectedly made an appearance in Lam Dong Province, Vietnam, complete with a license plate. This legendary car, the predecessor of the popular GT-R series, was highly sought after by car enthusiasts and street racers in the early 2000s. Movie fans may recognize it from the famous Fast & Furious film series, where it starred alongside the late actor Paul Walker.
The Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 was in production from 1999 to 2002. It features design elements similar to the renowned Nismo Z-Tune modification, such as a “Nismo” grille, an aerodynamic front bumper, a hood with air vents, and black 5-spoke wheels.
The original Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 is equipped with a twin-turbocharged, 6-cylinder inline engine with a displacement of 2.6L, generating 276 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque. It comes with a 6-speed manual Getrag transmission and an all-wheel drive system, enabling it to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 5.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 250 km/h.
The Skyline R34 still holds its title as one of the most iconic JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) cars among enthusiasts and stands as one of Nissan’s greatest creations.
The Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 surpasses its predecessors in terms of performance with a shorter wheelbase, reduced weight, improved aerodynamics, and a sleeker body.
In the past, the Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 was like a forbidden fruit for North American car enthusiasts, as it was not officially imported and had to go through complex crash and emissions testing processes via private importers.
