The Peugeot 2008 compact SUV is one of the most successful models of the French brand, consistently ranking among the top three best-selling small crossovers in Europe. Following that success, Peugeot has just unveiled an updated version of the 2008 with some styling tweaks, new mild-hybrid options, and an extended range of up to 405 km for the all-electric e-2008 model.

The regular petrol engines remain the same with the PureTech 1.2L 3-cylinder engine producing either 99 horsepower or 128 horsepower, paired with a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The acceleration capability ranges from 0-100 km/h in 12.2 seconds to 10.7 seconds for the PureTech 100 and PureTech 130 manual models, respectively.

Starting from the 2024 model, Peugeot will introduce a new 48-volt mild-hybrid powertrain, which the French brand states includes a “new-generation 136 horsepower PureTech petrol engine, combined with a new 6-speed dual-clutch gearbox including an electric motor.”

Peugeot claims the 2008 48V Hybrid version can run on electric power for up to 50% of the time when driving in the city, resulting in fuel savings of up to 15%.

As for the all-electric e-2008, Peugeot has equipped it with a larger 54kWh battery pack to provide power to the new 154 horsepower motor at the front, improving on the range by 18% compared to its predecessor. With the larger battery pack, the range increases to 405 km. The new battery pack can be charged up to 80% in just 30 minutes with fast charging.

At the time of launch, the new 2008 and e-2008 will be available in three trim levels: Active, Allure, and GT. The pricing has not been revealed yet, but it is likely to be slightly adjusted compared to the previous generation.

The new Peugeot 2008 will feature a redesigned 10-inch i-Cockpit digital instrument panel with a 3D screen, as seen in the GT models. The color and layout of the instrument panel can be customized.

All new 2008 models will come with a 10-inch touchscreen display, featuring function buttons inspired by piano keys below. From the Allure trim and above, the 2008 will have Peugeot’s i-Connect infotainment system, supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Other interior upgrades include a new Peugeot badge on the small steering wheel hub. The GT models also feature new Alcantara upholstery options.

In addition, there are numerous driver assistance and safety systems, including adaptive cruise control, emergency automatic braking, expanded traffic sign recognition, lane keeping assist, and blind spot monitoring. Peugeot’s Advanced Grip Control system is also available on the 2024 2008.

The design changes for the new 2008 and e-2008 are subtle but effective, with a wider front end featuring Peugeot’s new logo. The new 2008 adopts the latest signature three-claw LED daytime running lights from Peugeot, first seen on the updated 508 and 508 SW models of the brand, with the LED lights integrated into glossy black inserts on the front bumper. At the rear, the lion claw-shaped LED rear lights of the car have also been refined.

There are also new scattered badges around the car’s bodywork, while the EV 2008 now features a new ‘E’ badge in Dichroic Blue. The car is equipped with wheels ranging from 16 to 18 inches in size, depending on the trim level.
