In July, there were numerous rumors circulating that the Vietnamese market would see the release of the MG7 in Q4/2023. However, despite these rumors, SAIC Motor – the distributor and importer of MG cars in Vietnam – has yet to provide any information regarding this particular car model.
Based on sales advice, the MG7 will be made available in Vietnam in two versions: STD (Standard) and LUX (Luxury), with an estimated price range of 750 million dong.
The MG7 was introduced to the global market in August 2022 and officially launched in China in March of this year. This sedan boasts dimensions of 4,884 x 1,889 x 1,447 mm (length x width x height) and a wheelbase measuring 2,778 mm.
The 2023 MG7 features a design that not only exudes sportiness and strength but also encompasses an air of luxury and elegance. The front of the vehicle showcases striking, triangular-shaped headlights adorned with dual LED strips and vents on either side of the fenders for an added touch of sporty flair.
The car’s roof sports an eye-catching, coupe-style design, complemented by frameless windows, large alloy wheels, and sculpted bodywork, all contributing to the sedan’s overall elegance.
The rear of the car arguably stands as the most attractive element of the 2023 MG7. It features an aerodynamic wing reminiscent of the Porsche Panamera.
While navigating through congested city streets, the 3-stage adaptive electric rear wing retracts into the hatchback trunk, and a slightly raised ducktail meets the aerodynamic requirements at regular speeds. When the speed exceeds 100 km/h, the rear wing automatically lifts up and opens, providing enhanced stability akin to that which supercars offer.
Additionally, the car comes equipped with a 4-exhaust system, a large wind diffuser, and an elongated LED taillight spanning the width of the rear section.
As for the interior, the 2023 MG7 boasts a 5-seat configuration. Within the cabin, the design remains minimalistic while retaining an air of elegance. Most physical buttons have been replaced with touch-sensitive counterparts, such as volume control and temperature adjustment, located beneath the screen.
The car features a full 10.25-inch LCD dashboard and a prominent 12.3-inch central control screen affixed to the dashboard. The MG7 showcases a sleek 3-spoke steering wheel and a compact electronic shifter.
Furthermore, the vehicle comes with other notable features, including premium leather seats with a sporty design that effectively embraces the driver and passengers. The double sunroof, spanning both rows of seats, contributes to the car’s spacious interior.
This C-segment sedan also boasts a Topload opening and closing glass, the Zebra Luoshen 8155 intelligent steering system, advanced MG PILOT 2.0 intelligent driving assistance, and a BOSE Premium 9-speaker sound system, among other notable features.
In the premium version, the car equips itself with smart electronically controlled mCDC suspension, X-Mode super driving mode, and a BOSE Centerpoint 14-speaker surround sound system complete with SurroundStag sound technology.
According to information from sales advice, the MG7 will be released in Vietnam with the same engine options as those made available in the Chinese market. The first choice entails a 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine, capable of generating 261 horsepower and 405 Nm of torque, coupled with a 9-speed manual transmission.
The second option involves a 1.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, generating 180 horsepower, and 298 Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. Both variants come equipped with 4 driving modes: Normal, Eco, Sport, and X-MODE.
