The 2019 Kawasaki Z400 is the newest addition to the “Z family” and serves as the naked version of the Ninja 400 model.
The design of the Z400 draws inspiration from the Sugomi design philosophy, which serves as the foundation for all new Kawasaki models, including the renowned Ninja H2 and Ninja 400 superbikes.
The Kawasaki Z400 stands out with its sporty design, attractive headlights, muscular fuel tank, robust steel frame, and sleek tail section adorned with sharp lines.
The handlebar cluster houses all the necessary control buttons, including the electric lock, start button, turn signals, headlight/high beam, and horn. It is followed by a compact instrument cluster that displays all the essential information about the bike.
The front suspension of the Z400 consists of a 41mm telescopic fork, while the rear utilizes a mono-shock with adjustable preload. Both the front and rear wheels feature disc brakes, with a 310mm diameter for the front and 220mm for the rear, complemented by ABS brakes as standard.
The Kawasaki Z400 weighs in at 167 kg, making it 1 kg lighter than the Ninja 400 and 3 kg lighter than its sibling, the Z300.
The heart of the 2019 Kawasaki Z400 is similar to that of the Ninja 400, housing a liquid-cooled, 399cc parallel-twin cylinder engine. This engine generates a maximum power of 45 hp at 10,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 38 Nm at 8,000 rpm. It is paired with a 6-speed transmission and equipped with a slipper clutch system, all while meeting Euro 4 emission standards.
As of late, Kawasaki has been actively launching new and successful models within their respective segments. The brand has once again made a strong statement in the mid-range segment with the introduction of the new Z400 2019, joining the well-established “Z” family. The Kawasaki Z400 will compete with formidable rivals such as the KTM 390 Duke and BMW G310R.
