The next generation of Skoda’s popular Kodiaq model has been officially unveiled. The new model will be available in both 5-seat and 7-seat variants.
The latest version of Skoda’s flagship SUV boasts a larger and more spacious interior compared to its predecessor, as well as a range of new technologies. Buyers will have a choice of petrol, diesel, mild-hybrid, and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) drivetrain options. The PHEV variant offers an impressive 201 horsepower and a pure electric range of over 100 km.
In terms of design, Skoda has followed a similar evolutionary approach for the new Kodiaq. The car retains its distinctive features and proportions from the previous generation, but with added elements from Skoda’s ‘Modern Solid’ design language, resulting in a sharper appearance. Exterior updates include smoother body surfaces and modern features like full LED Matrix headlights.
Inside the cabin, the 2024 Skoda Kodiaq features a modern and minimalist design. It is equipped with a 12.9-inch infotainment screen, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and a heads-up display. The central control cluster has also been redesigned for a cleaner look.
The new Kodiaq measures 4,758 mm in length, 1,864 mm in width, and 1,657 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,791 mm. This makes it 61 mm longer than the previous generation and 110 mm longer than the all-electric Skoda Enyaq.
When it comes to storage space, the 2024 Kodiaq leads the class with its spacious boot capacity. The 5-seat version offers a capacity of 920 litres, which is 75 litres more than its predecessor. The 7-seat version provides a luggage capacity ranging from 340 to 845 litres. Additionally, the 7-seat model features increased headroom for third-row passengers and adjustable second-row seats.
As expected from a family-friendly SUV, the 2024 Kodiaq comes with a range of convenient features, including 4 USB-C ports with 45W power, an additional USB-C port with 15W power integrated into the rearview mirror, a 9-speaker audio system, and wireless charging (15W) for two smartphones. The front seats also feature a massage function, and the air conditioning control system has been redesigned for easy access.
The new Kodiaq is built on an improved version of the MQB platform and offers a range of powertrain options, including petrol, diesel, mild hybrid, and plug-in hybrid.
The PHEV powertrain combines a 1.5 TSI Evo 2 engine with a single electric motor, resulting in a combined output of 201 horsepower. The 25.7 kWh battery pack provides an electric range of over 100 km. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 6-speed automatic DSG gearbox. Customers who prefer all-wheel drive can opt for variants with conventional combustion engines.
The Skoda Kodiaq 2024 has recently been launched in the Vietnamese market, with prices starting from 1.189 billion VND. It competes with other D-segment SUVs such as the Hyundai SantaFe, Kia Sorento, Mazda CX-8, Ford Everest, and Toyota Fortuner.
