At the end of November 2020, the “WIN OR LOSE, RACE AND KNOW – SEASON 2” Go-Kart racing event was held at the Dai Nam racetrack in Binh Duong province. The event was filled with enthusiasm and saw the participation of approximately 100 drivers from all age groups.
All drivers used the same Go-Kart racing car provided by the organizer. The car is fully imported from Australia and is equipped with a 210cc, 4-stroke liquid-cooled engine. It has a maximum power of 10 horsepower, a maximum torque of 15 Nm, and can reach a maximum speed of over 100 km/h.
The “WIN OR LOSE, RACE AND KNOW – SEASON 2” race was like a sweet garden where Go-Kart drivers showcased their skills after months of hard training and reaped the ripe fruits of success.
The race consisted of two formats: Sprint (short distance race) and Endurance (long distance race). For the 14 new drivers (entry-level), a Sprint format race was held. The final race consisted of 14 laps, equivalent to 24 km.
It was a historic moment for Go-Kart racing events in Vietnam as, for the first time ever, the FRV Company (Formula Racing Vietnam) organized a 120-minute Endurance race. The race covered a total distance of about 150 km, challenging the drivers’ endurance and intelligent calculation.
The Endurance format required each team to make at least three pit stops, with each driver having to run for at least 15 minutes. The 10 teams in this format were ranked based on the maximum number of laps completed by each team. Smooth coordination between 3 – 4 experienced team drivers was crucial to saving time during each pit stop.
To have a good Le Mans-style start in the Endurance format, the team required extensive training. This included techniques for getting into the car as fast as possible and starting the engine instantly.
