The sedan segment has experienced a decline in popularity due to the rise of SUVs, but there are still sedans that have maintained good sales figures. One such example is the Toyota Camry, which was the 5th best-selling car in the US market in 2022. To capitalize on its success, Toyota decided to organize a global launch event for the 9th generation Camry in North America.
In the 2025 upgrade, the Toyota Camry receives significant changes, both in terms of design and technology. Notably, it is now only available in a hybrid version, completely phasing out the V6 engine.
The new 2025 Toyota Camry is built on the TNGA-K platform from the 8th generation Camry, but with an upgraded suspension system for improved response and handling. In the US, it is offered in LE, SE, XLE, and XSE trims.
Despite the declining popularity of sedans, the 2025 Camry still maintains its traditional design and does not follow the SUV trend. The exterior changes give it a sportier and more modern look, appealing to a wider audience, including younger buyers.
The front of the car is now more striking with a larger grille and sleeker headlights. LED headlights, daytime running lights, and taillights are standard across all models. The headlight design is reminiscent of the new Prius model.
Each trim level offers unique grille designs, with the SE featuring a sportier black grille and the XLE boasting a metallic gray grille.
The XSE trim stands out with a body-colored lower bumper, black trunk lid trim, and larger 19-inch wheels. It is available in Midnight Black Metallic with roof options including Ocean Gem, Wind Chill Pearl, Heavy Metal, and Supersonic Red.
Inside, the 2025 Camry features a 7.0-inch digital gauge cluster and an 8.0-inch infotainment screen. The XLE and XSE trims come with a pair of 12.3-inch screens for the gauge cluster and infotainment display. The infotainment system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Additional features include wireless charging, a JBL 9-speaker sound system, and a 10-inch Head-Up Display (HUD) on higher trims.
Each trim level of the 2025 Camry offers different interior material options. The SE trim features SofTex material with white accents, while the LE trim features printed fabric material with wave patterns. The XSE trim offers black or vibrant red leather upholstery, and the XLE trim is equipped with Dinamica microfiber trim. The XLE and XSE trims also offer optional heated and ventilated seats, as well as laminated acoustic glass for the front windows to reduce cabin noise.
One significant upgrade for the 2025 Camry is that it is now only available as a hybrid, with the option of front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The hybrid powertrain consists of a 2.5L inline-4 engine and two electric motors. The front-wheel drive version delivers a combined output of 225 horsepower, while the all-wheel drive version produces 232 horsepower. Both powertrains are paired with an eCVT gearbox.
All trims of the 2025 Camry come equipped with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, which includes features like Forward Collision Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning, Traffic Sign Recognition, Automatic High Beams, Blind Spot Monitoring, and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert.
The XLE and XSE trims offer an optional Premium Plus Package, which adds Intersection Support, Front Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Change Assist, a panoramic view monitor, and front and rear parking support with automatic braking. Information about the TRD performance trim is not yet available.
The 2025 Camry is expected to arrive at Toyota dealerships in the US in early 2024, with pricing details yet to be announced. Considering its standard hybrid powertrain, it is anticipated that the Camry 2025 will have a higher starting price compared to the previous model, which starts at $26,420 for the gasoline engine version and $28,855 for the 2024 Camry Hybrid.
