Vespa Elettrica is the first electric scooter offered by the Piaggio group and has been available in Europe since September 2018. After a 5-year wait, this electric scooter is finally entering the Vietnamese market.

Currently, some Piaggio dealers in Vietnam are accepting pre-orders for the Vespa Elettrica electric scooter. The official selling price has not been announced yet, but dealers estimate that it will be around 280 million VND. The scooter is expected to be available by the end of this year.

The number of Vespa Elettrica scooters sold in Vietnam will be limited. With a price tag of nearly 300 million VND, comparable to a used car, and limited availability, Vespa Elettrica will likely appeal to collectors, similar to the previous masterpiece 946.

In fact, Vespa Elettrica was first brought to Vietnam in December 2018. Initially, Piaggio planned to start selling this electric scooter in Vietnam in the second quarter of 2019, but the plan was delayed and is now expected to be executed by the end of this year. Vespa Elettrica models for Vietnam will be imported directly from the Pontedera factory in Pisa, Italy.

Vespa Elettrica arrived in Vietnam in late 2018

Despite being an electric scooter, the Elettrica has a design that closely resembles its sibling, the Vespa Primavera. The scooter stands out with its shiny chrome paint and contrasting lines in colors such as blue or gold on the front shield, footrest, and wheel rims.

The Vespa Elettrica is powered by a one-way electric motor, with maximum power options of 2 kW (2.7 horsepower) or 4 kW (5.4 horsepower), and a maximum torque of 200 Nm. According to Piaggio, the real-world performance of the Vespa Elettrica is comparable to a 50cc scooter. Additionally, the scooter features an ECO mode, which limits the speed to below 30 km/h to conserve energy.

Furthermore, it is equipped with an 86 Ah lithium-ion battery pack, allowing for a range of up to 100 km. The battery pack has a lifespan of 1,000 charge cycles, which is equivalent to 50,000 – 70,000 km or approximately 10 years of typical usage. Charging the battery pack to full capacity takes about 4 hours.

Moreover, this luxurious electric scooter also incorporates Ride-To-Rider connectivity technology, which enables users to control and monitor the scooter’s operation through a smartphone app. Additionally, the scooter offers keyless ride recognition technology.
