Volkswagen is making plans to introduce the Teramont X model in Vietnam and the local dealerships have already begun accepting deposits for this model. The expected starting price for the Teramont X in Vietnam is VND 2.168 billion, which is significantly lower compared to the current price of the Teramont model. Unlike the Teramont, the Teramont X will be imported from China and not Europe. It is manufactured by the SAIC-Volkswagen joint venture. The Teramont X is a coupe SUV version of the Teramont and is considered a more affordable alternative to the BMW X6 or Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe. It is based on Volkswagen’s MQB platform with dimensions of 4,917 x 1,989 x 1,729 mm (length x width x height) and a wheelbase of 2,980 mm. Its exterior design is more stylish and sportier compared to the Teramont. The specific equipment for the Vietnam-spec model has not been announced yet. In China, the Teramont X comes with LED matrix headlights, LED daytime running lights, 18 – 21 inch alloy wheels, and LED taillights. Inside, it has a 5-seat layout and a rear cargo space of 540 liters, which can be expanded to 1,719 liters with the seats folded. The interior features leather seats, a 12.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system. The Teramont X is equipped with either a 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder gasoline engine or a 2.5L V6 turbocharged gasoline engine, both paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and 4Motion all-wheel drive. It also comes with modern safety features like adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree camera, and front/rear parking sensors. The Teramont X is expected to be launched in Vietnam next year, competing with the Hyundai Palisade and Ford Explorer.
