The VF 3 is perfectly suited for maneuvering through small and narrow urban areas, making it ideal for parking in tight spaces and navigating through traffic jams.
There have been ongoing rumors of VinFast’s entrance into the Indonesian market. Most recently, various Indonesian media outlets reported that VinFast has registered the industrial design rights for their electric car model, the VF 3.
On November 22, 2023, VinFast Manufacturing and Trading Joint Stock Company officially registered the industrial design protection at the Indonesian Copyright and Industrial Design Office, General Directorate of Intellectual Property, Ministry of Law and Human Rights. The registered design is simply listed as “Car” without specifying the type, although it is evident that the design is for the VinFast VF 3.
Once it enters the Indonesian market, the VinFast VF 3 will directly compete with the Wuling Air EV, which currently dominates the mini car segment of the country’s electric car market. In 2022 alone, around 11,000 units of the Wuling Air EV were sold, accounting for 75% of the market share in the electric car segment.
The VinFast VF 3 is designed as an urban SUV with slightly shorter and smaller dimensions compared to conventional A-segment cars. The overall length of the car is approximately 3,114 mm, featuring 2 side doors, 1 rear trunk, and ample space for up to 5 passengers.
Despite its compact size, the VF 3 boasts a tall and robust body, thanks to its 16-inch or 17-inch wheels that allow for a generous ground clearance and smooth navigation across various terrain conditions. The exterior design stands out with bold geometric forms and strong lines that flow seamlessly from the front to the back of the car.
Notably, the square-shaped headlights and mirrors, along with the distinctive V-wing logo adorning the front and rear bumpers, serve as compelling design elements that create a cohesive visual language, lending a dynamic and impressive appeal to the overall design of the car.
According to undisclosed sources, the VinFast VF 3 is expected to reach a top speed of 100 km/h and offer a range of 285 km (based on the CLTC testing cycle of China) or 237 km (based on the WLTP testing cycle of Europe). However, VinFast has yet to confirm these figures or provide official detailed information about their smallest and most affordable electric car model in their product lineup.
