Collaboratively developed by Volkswagen, Audi, and Porsche, the Touareg was designed to be an off-road capable SUV that embodies the luxurious amenities and driving experience of a sports car. Over 300 experts worked on this project.
The name “Touareg” is derived from the Tuareg people, renowned for their resilience in the Sahara Desert.
The Touareg’s platform, known as the PL71, is shared with the Porsche Cayenne and Audi Q7. However, each vehicle has its own distinct design, features, and technologies.
With its sleek, understated German design, the Touareg stands out among other luxury SUVs. The front grille and air intakes feature horizontal lines, similar to the Porsche Cayenne and Audi Q7.
The car is equipped with Bi-xenon headlights, integrated with LED daytime running lights. The headlights provide an automatic leveling function, curve lighting function, and adapt to vehicle speed. Other features include headlight cleaning, adaptive lighting control, automatic windshield wipers, and speed-dependent wipers.
The Touareg’s body design is simple yet commanding. Unlike other luxury SUVs, it doesn’t have prominent body lines, emphasizing its powerful presence. The rounded and appealing lines resemble the Porsche Cayenne. Other features include power-folding side mirrors, 20-inch alloy wheels, large stainless steel exhaust tips, and a power tailgate.
The Touareg’s interior exudes understated elegance, with a predominantly brown color scheme and aluminum accents. Glossy Vavona brown wood is used on the dashboard, gearshift lever, and door trim, creating a warm and cozy atmosphere. Features include a leather-wrapped steering wheel, digital instrument display, touchscreen display with infotainment system, dual-zone independent air conditioning, and spacious rear seats.
The touchscreen display includes a 6-disc CD changer, MP3, MP4, and AUX support, accompanied by 8 clear and distinct speakers. The rear seats are genuinely spacious, offering ample legroom and cargo space. The Vienna leather seats can be adjusted in 14 directions and come with a memory function.
Safety features include 6 airbags, ABS, emergency brake assist, traction control, electronic stability control, and electronic brake-force distribution. Additional features such as electronic differential lock, cruise control, off-road ascent assistance, hill descent control, electronic parking brake, and a 360-degree camera system provide peace of mind on every journey.
The Touareg is equipped with a 3.6L V6 engine producing 280 horsepower and 360 Nm of torque. It features an 8-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission and a permanent 4Motion all-wheel drive system. The SUV delivers a pleasant and stable driving experience, even in challenging conditions.
Overall, the Volkswagen Touareg is a distinctive luxury SUV that offers elegance, comfort, and performance. With its commanding presence, spacious interior, and comprehensive safety features, it appeals to discerning Vietnamese consumers seeking a refined and capable SUV.
