After a series of teasers, the Xpeng X9, a large-sized pure electric MPV, was officially launched at the Guangzhou Auto Show. The car is available in two versions: a standard front-wheel-drive (FWD) version and a high-end four-wheel-drive (AWD) version, with prices starting from $54,000 (1.3 billion VND).
The Xpeng X9 is built on the SEPA2.0 platform and is Xpeng’s first model to be equipped with the XOS Tianji intelligent cabin control software.
The car has dimensions of 5,293 x 1,988 x 1,785 mm (length x width x height) and a wheelbase of 3,160 mm. Unlike traditional boxy MPVs, the Xpeng X9’s design is inspired by spaceships, with meticulously crafted lines and 17 optimized aerodynamic features that result in a drag coefficient of only 0.227 Cd.
The Xpeng X9 is considered to have the most spacious and comfortable cabin in its segment. It comes equipped with modern utility features such as a two-spoke steering wheel with function buttons, a small LCD digital clock, a large central control screen, and wireless charging capabilities.
The 7-seater configuration of the Xpeng X9 includes two independent seats in the second row, complete with armrests and a dedicated charging port with a folding table. Passengers can enjoy entertainment and news updates through the 21.4-inch screen hanging from the car’s ceiling, as well as access drinks from the small refrigerator.
The car features zero-gravity reclining sofa seats with adjustable headrests and electrically adjustable backrests, providing comfort for long journeys.
The third row of seats in the car is equipped with cup holders and an independent air conditioning control system.
The Xpeng X9 is available with two different propulsion systems. The single-motor variant delivers 315 horsepower, while the dual-motor variant offers a combined power output of 496 horsepower.
The electric MPV supports fast charging with 800 V and offers three driving range options: 610 km, 640 km, and 702 km.
With its rear-wheel-drive steering standard, the X9 has a turning diameter of only 10.8m, making it agile in urban environments.
Deposits for the Xpeng X9 can be made starting from November 17, and the first deliveries are scheduled for January 2024.
