2023 Ford Puma ST Powershift Revealed with 168 HP 1.0L Mild-Hybrid Engine

Ford has recently introduced the 2023 Puma ST Powershift, a new and improved version of their popular SUV. This model is equipped with the most powerful edition of the 1.0L mild-hybrid engine, which is now paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission. As a replacement for the previous 1.5L manual variant, the Puma ST Powershift offers enhanced performance and a smoother driving experience.

Let’s start with the powertrain system, the EcoBoost 1.0L 3-cylinder turbocharged engine with the 48V system has been tuned to deliver a maximum power of 168 horsepower and a peak torque of 248 Nm.

To achieve an increase in power by about 10% compared to the Puma ST-Line, Ford engineers have adjusted the software of the powertrain system, while enhancing the mild-hybrid system. In addition, the 7-speed dual-clutch Powershift transmission has been optimized to improve performance.

The Puma ST Powershift can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 7.4 seconds, which is 1.6 seconds faster than the ST-Line and only 0.6 seconds slower than the more powerful ST version. Ford claims that this new model has a fuel consumption of only 6.3 l/100km.

Aside from the new powertrain system, the 2023 Puma ST Powershift shares the sporty chassis and features of the regular Puma ST, which have been available since 2020, including the exclusive suspension system.

Meanwhile, the exterior design of the Puma ST Powershift remains unchanged compared to the regular Puma ST, as it shares the same sporty body kit and 19-inch alloy wheels in Magnetite grey. The car also gets a new Azura Blue exterior color, which can be combined with a black roof.

The standard equipment includes an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless phone charging, synthetic leather Sensico sports seats, parking sensors, and the Ford MegaBox under the trunk floor.

Although the official press release does not mention the price, the Ford Puma ST Powershift with the 1.0L mild-hybrid powertrain will be slightly cheaper than the manual version with the 1.5L engine.
