The Bugatti Chiron SS “57 One of One” draws inspiration from the legendary Bugatti Type 57 SC Atlantic, which was unveiled almost a century ago.
While most septuagenarian women typically opt for small hatchback models with moderate speeds or hand over the wheel to their children and grandchildren, a recent female tycoon has defied expectations by owning a Bugatti Chiron Super Sport with a mind-boggling power output of over 1,578 horsepower. It is believed that this extravagant gift was thoughtfully purchased by her husband to celebrate her birthday.
This magnificent supercar is named Bugatti Chiron Super Sport “57 One of One” – one of the final Chiron models ever produced before the series was discontinued. What sets it apart is its design, which takes inspiration from the iconic Bugatti Type 57 SC Atlantic. The owner revealed that she first laid eyes on the original 57 SC two decades ago and has been captivated by the elegant design of this classic French car ever since. Twenty years later, her thoughtful husband visited Bugatti’s Molsheim facility and custom ordered a Chiron Super Sport, requesting the inclusion of unique details inspired by the Type 57 SC Atlantic as a gift for his beloved wife.
“During our customer’s visit, as soon as we passed by the scale model of the Type 57 SC – the original Atlantic that she had seen many years ago – we instinctively knew that this was the direction we should pursue,” reminisced Jascha Straub, the Head of Design at Bugatti’s Sur Mesure department.
“For many years, I have had a dream of reimagining this iconic Type 57 SC Atlantic, so I had my own concepts and thoughts on how to honor the most elegant automobile ever designed. This meant that we could sit down and collaborate on the design, bringing the owner’s vision to life,” added Straub.
As Bugatti pointed out, the fundamental design of the Chiron pays homage to the 57 SC, showcasing the distinctive shape of this legendary car from the 1930s. However, what truly distinguishes this car is its stunning horseshoe-shaped grille with polished vertical slats and a central air intake that is thicker, reminiscent of the Type 57 SC Atlantic. Additionally, to ensure that the paint colors of both cars matched perfectly, Bugatti even flew to the Guggenheim Museum – where the Type 57 SC Atlantic is exhibited – to meticulously verify the accuracy of the paint shade.
The five-spoke wheels of the Chiron Super Sport also feature a blend of blue paint and chrome plating, reminiscent of the classic 57, while the underside of the rear wing showcases a hand-drawn pattern inspired by the Type 57 SC Atlantic. Meanwhile, the car’s interior is luxuriously finished with Gaucho leather and boasts blue accents, a “57 One of One” plaque on the central control cluster, and Bugatti’s iconic elephant emblem adorning the seatback.
