The 4th generation of the Chevrolet Spark made its debut at the New York and Seoul 2015 exhibitions. Chevrolet has recently announced plans to introduce this “affordable” car model to the Southeast Asian market, starting with the Philippines.
Sources suggest that the 2017 Chevrolet Spark will be officially launched in the Philippines market during the Manila exhibition in early April this year. After its release in the Philippines, it is expected that the new generation Chevrolet Spark will be introduced in other Southeast Asian markets, including Vietnam.
In the 4th generation, the Spark features a different design, with the front of the car resembling other models in the Chevrolet family. Compared to its predecessor, the 2017 Chevrolet Spark has a less flashy design but a more mature appearance.
The exterior design of the 2017 Chevrolet Spark offers more evolution rather than revolution, with a split grille and traditional headlamp cluster. The car also boasts a sloping roof, new rear door, and integrated rear spoiler.
Compared to its predecessor, the 2017 Chevrolet Spark has a longer wheelbase and a height reduced by approximately 40 mm in order to improve aerodynamic performance. The basic dimensions of the 2017 Chevrolet Spark include an overall length of 3,595 mm, width of 1,595 mm, height of 1,475 mm, and wheelbase of 2,385 mm.
In terms of engine options, the new generation Chevrolet Spark offers two choices. The first is a 3-cylinder Ecotec gasoline engine with a displacement of 1.0 liter, delivering a maximum power of 74 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and a peak torque of 95 Nm at 4,500 rpm.
The second engine option is a 4-cylinder Ecotec gasoline engine with a displacement of 1.4 liters. This engine generates a maximum power of 98 horsepower at 6,200 rpm and a peak torque of 124 Nm at 4,400 rpm.
The notable features of the 2017 Chevrolet Spark include 16-inch alloy wheels, an LCD screen on the dashboard, the MyLink entertainment information system with a 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay support, a heated steering wheel, and 8 airbags for enhanced safety.
The exact selling price of the 2017 Chevrolet Spark in the Philippines market is not yet known. However, in South Korea, the new generation Chevrolet Spark starts at 10.15 million Won, which is equivalent to approximately 200 million VND.
