In this article, we will compare the design of two SUV models – the Hyundai Santa Fe 2024 and the Land Rover Defender 130 – to find the answer.
The new Santa Fe features a boxy design, square shape, bright-colored C and D pillars (Defender has two stripes on the C-pillar), and rugged wheel arches that evoke the luxury SUV model from Land Rover, England.
However, the Korean SUV stands out with a separate H-shaped daytime running light strip and a horizontal LED strip placed across the grille, giving it a more aggressive look compared to the round-shaped headlights of the Defender.
The characteristic H-shaped pattern also appears on the same color front bumper of the Santa Fe. The prominent sides of the car feature large, angular wheel arches, which contrast with the more rounded wheel arches of the Defender.
At the rear end, the Santa Fe has H-pattern taillights that are placed quite low horizontally, which is one of the most controversial points on the new Santa Fe. Meanwhile, the Defender has vertically stacked round taillights, which look much sleeker and more eye-catching. In addition, Land Rover also has a full-size spare wheel mounted on the rear end, giving it a strong off-road vibe.
Moving inside, both SUV models have a premium, simple, and modern interior with a large center console.

While the Santa Fe 2024 features a standout three-spoke steering wheel with a design similar to the flagship limousine Grandeur of the Korean automaker, the Land Rover is equipped with a four-spoke, more sturdy steering wheel.

The center control cluster of the Santa Fe seems to be deeper with double-sided wireless charging Qi and UV-C antibacterial technology. Just above is the control cluster for the air conditioning system, designed in the style of the Defender. However, while the Defender has a protruding gearshift, the Santa Fe’s gearshift is attached to the steering column.
The new Santa Fe is equipped with a curved glossy screen consisting of a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch infotainment system running the latest operating system, while Land Rover uses the latest 11.4-inch Pivi Pro system with a more square aspect ratio.
Currently, Hyundai has not provided detailed information on the specifications, equipment, features, and rear seats of the 2024 Santa Fe. We will have to wait until August for the global debut of this SUV model.
In terms of price, the current Hyundai Santa Fe starts at $46,050 in the US market, while the Defender 130 is priced sky-high at $124,150. Therefore, for users who are attracted to the looks of the Defender more than its off-road capabilities, the new Santa Fe could be considered a more affordable alternative.
