Zeekr, a subsidiary brand of Geely, has recently announced the delivery of its first 001 model to a European customer. The milestone comes after 9 months of expanding their presence in the EU market, and was celebrated at the Shanghai Auto Show in April. The handover took place at Zeekr’s delivery center in Zeist, the Netherlands.

The first premium electric car from Geely’s subsidiary brand is making waves in the international market

The CEO of Zeekr Europe, Spiros Fotinos, who attended the event, expressed his pride in the Zeekr Europe team, stating, “We are incredibly proud of the fantastic Zeekr Europe team that has made this a reality.”

The pre-sale of the mid-size SUV models Zeekr 001 and Zeekr X started in June in the Netherlands and Sweden, with prices starting from 59,490 euros and 44,990 euros respectively. The first 001 designed for the European market rolled off the assembly line in China on August 2nd, and arrived on the continent on August 25th.

Zeekr has previously announced plans to expand to 4 European countries by 2024, and establish international presence in 8 countries by 2025. Currently, Zeekr has directly operated stores in China, the Netherlands, and Sweden.

Zeekr Europe is based in Gothenburg, Sweden and has recently relocated its main business office to the Netherlands, designating Amsterdam as their “sales home in Europe,” according to EV media outlet Electrek. Zeekr plans to transfer 80 employees from Gothenburg to Amsterdam and hire an additional 100 local employees.

In September, Zeekr unveiled the performance edition of the 001, known as the 001 FR. Boasting 1247 horsepower and the ability to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 2.07 seconds, the 001 FR surpasses the Tesla Model S Plaid. Additionally, the sports car has the capability of performing a 360-degree spin. It is rumored that the 001 FR will also be available in Europe, following the footsteps of its slower sibling, the 001, however, no timeline has been provided at this time.
