A 1997 Land Rover Defender 90 is listed for sale on the Carfax used car exchange platform for up to $72,500.
This price may seem surprisingly high for a 26-year-old model, and it even exceeds the listed price of a 2023 Defender 90 by one and a half times ($47,700 – equivalent to 1.15 billion VND).
This particular Defender was purchased by a car collector in Spain last year and was later exported to the United States at the beginning of 2023. The SUV has undergone refurbishment and has a relatively new appearance. The original green color of this off-road SUV has been repainted in the trendy Brooklyn metallic gray color.
Although it may not be comparable to the new generation Defender 90, this 26-year-old SUV possesses unique characteristics that are rare among other models. In particular, the vehicle features a distinctive structure with a soft black top and removable upper parts of the doors. The windshield can also be folded down. These features make the British-branded SUV an excellent choice for beach trips. Additionally, the car is equipped with 15-inch alloy wheels combined with 235/85 Cooper Discoverer STT Pro off-road tires.
The interior of this 1996 Defender 90 is upholstered in brown leather with suede accents. The car also features a wooden floor, Nardi Torino wooden-rimmed steering wheel, digital rearview mirror, Marshall speakers integrated into the central control panel, Pioneer head unit with Bluetooth, and two cup holders.
In terms of performance, this SUV is equipped with a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine that produces 111 horsepower and a maximum torque of 264 Nm. The engine is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission and a rear differential lock.
