During the Vietnam Motor Show 2015, local car assemblers presented their latest cars with impressive performances inside the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center. Outside of the event, the imported car brand BMW discreetly distributed flyers to visitors attending the VMS 2015 through its nearby showroom.
The invitation letter to test drive the new BMW Series 3 was handed directly to visitors at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center. However, sometimes the invitation letter was mistakenly given to staff from other car brands.
Also in the invitation letter, BMW displayed and allowed customers to test drive 2 new models: the new BMW Series 3 and the new BMW X1. However, the highlight of these two models was the appearance of the Isetta car, with its egg-shaped design, which is recognized as a timeless microcar. This car is called Isetta or “little Iso”. BMW Isetta has a completely unique and surprising design, which caused controversy at its introduction in Turin in October 1953.
Going back to the history of the global automotive industry, on March 5, 1955, at the luxurious Bachmair hotel on the shores of Lake, in the Rottach-Egern area, the media had the opportunity to see a 2-seater car that was completely different from the sports coupes that were on the market at that time. Mr. Fritz Fiedler – who later became the Head of Development at BMW – succinctly introduced in his opening speech: “With the BMW Isetta Motocoupé, we are bringing the public a highly economical kind of car and at the same time, a new concept in Germany.”
Indeed, such a car had never been seen before on German roads: with its small size, the car was almost a spherical shape with windows all around – and a single door at the front. And until now, with this unique design, BMW Isetta is still referred to as the most unique “egg-shaped” car of all time.
Some detailed images of the BMW Isetta:
The BMW Isetta has a unique design with a round, bulbous shape and soft line running along the body of the car.
The car only has one entrance, which is the front door.
If not careful, it is difficult to distinguish between the front and the rear of the car.
During the time of the BMW Isetta, black tires with white side walls and chrome-plated wheels were a popular style.

The turn signals are located on the sides of the car with a classic round shape.
The classic round headlights are also a characteristic of the BMW Isetta.
The car is equipped with a 298cc engine capable of producing a maximum power of 13 horsepower and a maximum torque of 18.4Nm. The car can reach a top speed of 85km/h.
BMW Isetta is one of the iconic products of BMW.
