Lamborghini 350 GT, with chassis number 0121, is one of the fifteen first-ever car models produced by Automobili Lamborghini. This model has been restored by Lamborghini PoloStorico and is being showcased to the public for the first time at the Rétromobile 2017 international classic car exhibition.
Lamborghini PoloStorico took a total of 1930 hours to restore the entire car, with 1150 hours dedicated to the restoration of the exterior and interior, and 780 hours dedicated to testing mechanical and electrical operations.
The entire restoration process was carried out based on the preservation of the car’s unique characteristics. In some necessary cases, original parts were recycled instead of using new equipment. The restoration process was highly precise thanks to the help of historical car researchers and the careful use of preserved technical drawings and original designs.
For the restored version of the 350 GT exhibited at Rétromobile 2017, the cooling system, braking system, and fuel system were thoroughly checked to ensure safety and accuracy. After the restoration process, subsequent testing showed excellent balance and overall performance of the restored 350 GT, demonstrated by precise shifting, reliable braking system, and accurate performance even under racing conditions.
The black leather interior was refurbished using a classic process, and the steering wheel, clutch pedal, and all details were restored to the highest level of accuracy. Even the audio system in the car was restored to its original state, while still ensuring perfect functionality.
It can be said that the perfectly restored car like the 350 GT was handed over to its first owner in 1964.
As for the exterior, the 350 GT was painted using techniques and formulas similar to those used at the time, providing an elegant and eye-catching appearance. The original rims were restored and verified by the early supplier, Milan’s RUOTE Borrani, and the car is also equipped with Pirelli Cinturato 205 R15 tires, just like the original version.
The decorative elements and badges of the car were carefully preserved and provided by the owners of 350 GT versions worldwide, helping to enhance the accuracy of this restored version.
This is the fourth fully restored project carried out by Lamborghini PoloStorico, following the projects for Miura, LM002, and Countach.
About Lamborghini 350 GT
Lamborghini 350 GT made its debut at the 1964 Geneva Motor Show, marking a turning point in the history of the Lamborghini brand with the GT car line for the global market.
The 350 GT, with its 12-cylinder aluminum alloy engine, was a breakthrough from the original GTV prototype engine, applied to a complex system to deliver 270 horsepower with just a 3.4-liter engine. A 5-speed ZF gearbox, Salisbury limited-slip differential, and independent four-wheel suspension with Girling disc brakes were placed in an aluminum frame. Initially, the car was produced with a dry lubrication system before being replaced by a wet lubrication system to increase performance for the 350 GT on the road.
Later, the 350 GT was redesigned by a highly reputable company, Carrozzeria Touring, aiming for a “sophisticated yet powerful” look. Until now, many fans and car enthusiasts still consider the 350 GT as the most elegant design among Lamborghini models.
