Toyota is reportedly planning a global launch event for the third-generation Fortuner model in early 2024. Speculations about this 7-seater SUV suggest a completely new design language. The 2024 Toyota Fortuner is said to draw inspiration from the recently launched Tacoma pickup truck, which made its global debut in late May. Leaked sketches of the 7-seater SUV based on the Tacoma model have already surfaced on social media.
The rendered image showcases the vertical front end design of the new Toyota Fortuner. It features a hexagonal grille with three chrome bars and the Toyota logo in the middle. The sharp LED headlights come with LED daytime running lights, while the front bumper is redesigned with larger air intakes and a prominent skid plate.
The sides of the car boast newly designed alloy wheels. It is highly likely that the rear LED taillights of the 2024 Fortuner will also have a refined design. The new generation Fortuner and Hilux will utilize the TNGA-F platform, which is currently being used for the Tundra, Land Cruiser, and Lexus LX. This could result in increased overall proportions and a more spacious cabin.
Another significant upgrade includes the potential addition of a mild-hybrid system for the current 2.8L GD 4-cylinder diesel engine. This system may be exclusively paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Toyota estimates that the incorporation of mild-hybrid technology will improve fuel efficiency by approximately 10% compared to non-hybrid variants.
In addition, off-road capabilities and related technologies will be improved, while the cabin will be upgraded to a more premium direction compared to the current model.
