According to data provided by the Vietnam Association of Motorcycle Manufacturers (VAMM), the sales volume of the 5 members in the first two quarters of the year has reached more than 1.4 million motorcycles. Meanwhile, in the whole year of 2021, the entire Vietnamese market consumed a total of 2.49 million motorcycles from VAMM members.

Thus, after only 9 months of the year, production and assembly of domestically assembled motorcycles has approximated the total sales volume of the 5 VAMM members in the whole year of 2021.

Data provided by VAMM represents the total sales volume of the members in the Vietnamese market and does not include the volume of motorcycles exported by these companies.

The Vietnam Association of Motorcycle Manufacturers includes 5 members: Honda Vietnam, Piaggio Vietnam, Suzuki Vietnam, SYM Vietnam, and Yamaha Motor Vietnam.

Improvement in supply in the last months of the year is expected to become a driving force for the growth of motorcycle sales after a long period of stagnation due to the pandemic.

Honda Vietnam did not announce the sales figures of the scooter group for four consecutive months before confirming that the Vision model returned as the best-selling motorcycle in August.

In addition, September is the end of the Ngau month and coincides with the period of students returning to school. Therefore, motorcycle manufacturers expect that sales will continue to improve thanks to abundant supply and renewed market demand.

However, due to the rapidly increasing demand, many models such as the Honda Vision and Yamaha Janus are being sold for several million VND more than the official price outside authorized dealerships.

Currently, the Honda Vision Cá Tính model is being sold for about 45 million VND at the HEAD stores, while the Yamaha Janus is also 6 million VND higher than the manufacturer’s suggested retail price.
