Prior to this, on August 5th, the official distributor of Lynk & Co cars in Vietnam, GreenLynk Automotives, signed a contract to import and distribute these Chinese models.

Lynk & Co is a sub-brand of the Geely group, established in 2016. The brand offers 8 models including 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06, 08, and 09 in international markets.

Out of these models, there are 6 SUV models: 01, 02, 05, 06, 08, and 09. The 02 model also has a hatchback version. Additionally, the 03 is a sedan while the 04 is an electric motorcycle.

Most of the Lynk & Co models feature a minimalist and modern design approach. These cars share the same platform as Volvo luxury cars.

According to sources, Lynk & Co will introduce the following models to the Vietnamese market: 01, 03, 05, and 09.

Lynk & Co 01

Among the upcoming Lynk & Co models in Vietnam, the 01 model is positioned in the C-segment SUV/CUV, competing with Mazda CX-5, Hyundai Tucson, and Honda CR-V.

The Lynk & Co 01 is based on the Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) platform, which is shared with the Volvo XC40.

The available transmission options for the car in Vietnam are not yet clear. In foreign markets, the car offers three engine options.

The first option is a 2.0L 4-cylinder gasoline engine with a maximum power output of 215 horsepower and a peak torque of 325 Nm. This engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

The second option is a hybrid powertrain with a 1.5L 3-cylinder gasoline engine, an electric motor, and a 3-speed DHT Pro transmission. The hybrid version of the 01 model, called EM-F, has a total power output of 194 horsepower and a peak torque of 345 Nm. The average fuel consumption of the hybrid version is 4.88 liters/100 km.

Finally, there is a plug-in hybrid powertrain which also uses the same 1.5L gasoline engine. However, this powertrain has a total power output of 257 horsepower and a peak torque of 425 Nm. The plug-in hybrid version, called EM-P, has an average fuel consumption of 1.2 liters/100 km. With its 17.7 kWh battery pack, the car can travel 70 km without using the gasoline engine.

Lynk & Co 03

The Lynk & Co 03 is the first sedan model from Lynk & Co, introduced in 2018. It is positioned in the C-segment and competes with Honda Civic, Mazda3, and Toyota Corolla Altis.

Regarding the powertrain, the Lynk & Co 03 also offers 3 engine options. The first option is a 2.0L 4-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine from Volvo, with a maximum power output of 254 horsepower and a peak torque of 350 Nm. This engine is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The second option is the same engine as above, but with increased power output of 265 horsepower and 380 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and a 4-wheel drive system.

This version has a total power output of 245 horsepower and a peak torque of 545 Nm, while consuming an average of 4.5 liters of gasoline per 100 km.

Lynk & Co 05

According to the manufacturer, the Lynk & Co 05 is a coupe SUV, with a design similar to the 01 model. In the domestic market, the Lynk & Co 05 is available in 3 versions: 05, 05+, and 05 EM-P (plug-in hybrid version).

The Lynk & Co 05 is equipped with 3 engine options. The first option is the Drive-E 2.0TD T5 engine, offering a maximum power output of 251 horsepower and a peak torque of 350 Nm. It is paired with an 8-speed Aisin automatic transmission.

Lynk & Co 09

The Lynk & Co 09 is the flagship model of the Lynk & Co brand, and it can be considered as the “twin brother” of the Volvo XC90. Both models share the Scalable Premium Architecture (SPA) platform. The Lynk & Co 09 has dimensions of 5,042 x 1,977 x 1,780 mm (LxWxH) and a wheelbase of 2,984 mm.

In foreign markets, the Lynk & Co 09 is available with 3 engine options.

The first option is a mild hybrid powertrain with a 2.0L turbocharged gasoline engine, an 8-speed automatic transmission, and a 48V electrical system. It offers a maximum power output of 245 horsepower and a peak torque of 350 Nm.

The second option is a plug-in hybrid powertrain with the same gasoline engine as above, 2 electric motors, and a 3-speed DHT transmission. This powertrain provides a total power output of 431 horsepower and a peak torque of 658 Nm.

Finally, the Lynk & Co 09 EM-P Voyage Edition will be equipped with a powerful plug-in hybrid powertrain, offering 512 horsepower and 844 Nm of torque. Its 18.83 kWh battery pack allows the car to travel 60 km without consuming any gasoline.

In Vietnam, the main competitors of the Lynk & Co 09 will be Hyundai Palisade and Volkswagen Teramont.

Thus, after Beijing, Hongqi, MG, Wuling, and Haval, Lynk & Co is the next Chinese car brand to enter the Vietnamese market. Early next year, the domestic car market may welcome other “newcomers” from “neighbors” such as OMODA and JAECOO from Chery.
