Anticipation builds for the 2024 Mitsubishi Triton in Vietnam as it showcases a more rugged appearance and an array of modern off-road features.

A recent Facebook post included pictures of a Mitsubishi Triton 2024 spotted on various roads in the Lao Cai and Dien Bien regions. This vehicle, sporting a Thai license plate, was part of a convoy that included SUVs, pickups, and motorcycles, reportedly taking part in a Northwest off-road tour.

Although the new generation Mitsubishi Triton has been available for purchase in Southeast Asian countries such as Thailand and the Philippines, this sighting marks its first appearance in Vietnam since its launch in late July 2023.

The Mitsubishi Triton features an enhanced off-road capability, thanks to its stronger frame system compared to its predecessor. The Japanese pickup truck measures 5,320 x 1,865 x 1,795 mm (length x width x height, respectively), with a wheelbase of 3,130 mm and a ground clearance of up to 222 mm.

The new generation Mitsubishi Triton 2024 retains its distinctive Dynamic Shield design language, but has been refined to present a more modern appearance. The front of the vehicle is elongated and highlighted by a vertically positioned rectangular grille. LED position lights and a set of LED projector headlights, similar to the new Xpander, adorn each side, while fog lights are located below the front bumper.

The rear of the Triton 2024 boasts a redesigned look with two opposing L-shaped LED strips. The wheels feature new patterns and reach a maximum size of 18 inches, paired with 265/60R18 tires.

The overall interior space of the Triton 2024 resembles that of the new generation Outlander. The steering wheel-mounted display incorporates a 7-inch screen, while the center display is an elevated 10-inch screen with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto support. Noteworthy features of the vehicle include a smart key, push-button engine start, a 6-speaker audio system, two 12V power outlets, USB Type A/Type C ports for rear seats, and wireless phone charging.

In Thailand, the Mitsubishi Triton 2024 is equipped with a brand-new 2.4L, 4-cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine offering two power levels: 184 horsepower/430 Nm and 204 horsepower/470 Nm. This engine is paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission, available in either 2WD or Super Select Full-time 4WD II.

The Mitsubishi Triton 2024 prioritizes off-road capabilities and provides 7 driving modes, including Normal, Eco, Gravel, Snow, Mud, Sand, and Rock. Additionally, this pickup truck features active traction control with brake control, rear differential lock, and the Active Yaw Control active cornering control system.

In terms of safety technology, the Mitsubishi Triton 2024 is equipped with advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), including Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Forward Collision Mitigation (FCM), Blind Spot Warning (BSW), Lane Change Assist (LCA), and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA).
