There are approximately two weeks remaining until the official launch of the all-new 2024 Mitsubishi Triton in Bangkok, Thailand. Mitsubishi has already released some teaser images of the upcoming pickup, and Mitsubishi Ralliart has provided test-running prototypes for this year’s Asia Cross Country Rally (AXCR).
Mitsubishi is continuously revealing more information about the drivetrain and chassis of the next-generation Triton. The Japanese automaker stated that the pickup will be developed on a newly-designed separate ladder frame. While specific details are not yet available, Mitsubishi has assured that the new frame will deliver a safe, strong, and comfortable driving experience in all weather and road conditions. Furthermore, the suspension system of the vehicle has been upgraded to provide a smoother ride for passengers.
In addition, the 2024 Mitsubishi Triton will feature a new turbo-diesel engine. Detailed specifications regarding the displacement and power output of the engine have not been disclosed, but Mitsubishi claims that it will greatly reduce friction losses and provide increased power.
Some sources suggest that the new turbo-diesel engine is an enhanced version of the current 4N15 2.4L engine used in the Montero Sport and Triton. It is also possible that the engine could be the 4N16 2.4L engine currently found in the Nissan Urvan in Japan, but with improvements to deliver higher horsepower and torque.
