In 2023, both the CVO Road Glide and CVO Street Glide motorcycles have received significant updates and improvements. These enhancements include new technology, modified designs for increased comfort for both the rider and passenger, as well as a boost in power from the improved Milwaukee-Eight VVT 121 engine.
When it comes to design, the 2023 Harley-Davidson CVO Street Glide and CVO Road Glide models are equipped with integrated windshields that feature a ventilation system. They also showcase distinctive LED lights with turn signals. Notable design improvements include a sleeker front fender, a 6-gallon fuel tank with side contours and additional saddlebags, and a three-dimensional fuel tank shape.
In addition, the motorcycles now have new Combo Cast Laced wheels, and each model offers two different finishing options. This allows owners to personalize their bikes according to their preferences. Furthermore, the dry weight of the Harley-Davidson CVO Street Glide and CVO Road Glide 2023 has been significantly reduced. The CVO Street Glide has reduced its weight by 14 kg, while the CVO Road Glide has reduced its weight by 16 kg compared to previous models.
The front and rear SHOWA suspension systems have been adjusted to enhance rider comfort. The rear suspension travel has been increased by 50%. Both motorcycles are also equipped with premium Brembo brakes.
In terms of technology, the new CVO Street Glide and CVO Road Glide models feature different ride modes: Road, Sport, and Rain. Additionally, they come with an anti-lock braking system (C-ABS) and a cornering traction control system (C-TCS).
Furthermore, the two models are equipped with a brand new infotainment system supported by Skyline OS. The system features a 12.3-inch color TFT touchscreen that can be customized according to rider preferences across three different view modes. It is also compatible with Apple and Android devices and offers integrated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity for wireless headset connection.
The most remarkable feature of these new CVO models is the introduction of a larger displacement engine, the Milwaukee Eight 121 VVT (1,977cc). This engine has a traditional V-Twin 45-degree design. It is the first time the Milwaukee-Eight engine is equipped with a Variable Valve Timing (VVT) system, which enhances high-end performance.
The Milwaukee Eight 121 VVT engine has a bore x stroke of 103.5 mm x 117.5 mm and a compression ratio of 11.4:1. It produces 115 horsepower at 5,020 rpm and a torque of 183 Nm at 3,500 rpm.
In comparison to the 2022 CVO 117 models (106 horsepower and 170 Nm), these specifications are just part of the upgrade. The new VVT system not only helps reduce exhaust emissions but also increases torque in the most important rpm range.
Alongside the VVT system upgrade, the new cylinder heads have modified cooling systems that focus on keeping the exhaust valves cooler. Both new-generation CVO models now have intake doors, a modified airbox, and larger-diameter exhaust pipes. The aluminum intake pipes feature improved flow characteristics and provide a more direct path from the airbox to the intake valves.
