Just in 2021, Honda has sold 89,014 Winner X motorcycles, surpassing all its competitors and claiming the best-selling position in the manual motorcycle segment. This remarkable success can be attributed to Honda’s attentive listening to consumer feedback.
Eye-catching and muscular design
While the first generation Winner shared a family resemblance with other Honda models such as Wave RSX and Future, the Winner X generation has taken inspiration from Bigbike designs, drawing influence from its older siblings CBR250R and CBR1000R.
The front half of the Winner X clearly showcases its sporting spirit, especially with the sport version available in blue, white, and the traditional red color of the Honda Racing team.
The 2022 Honda Winner X focuses on refining the imperfections of the previous generation, rather than introducing a completely new version.
The most striking change in the 2022 Winner X lies in its front design. The redesigned headlight mask with a mini windshield appears more compact, refined, and harmonious. The main air intake in the middle has been revamped with a hexagon honeycomb design, replacing the previous vertical stripe.
The fender has also undergone significant improvements, featuring interlacing flat surfaces and two eye-catching side air inlets. Even the “collar” part now uses textured plastic material, providing a more rugged feel.
The lower headlight design is the same as the previous version. This unique detail, inspired by its older brother CBR100R, can be found in other Honda models such as AirBlade, SH, CBR150R, and CBR500R.
The front mudguard of the 2022 Honda Winner X has also been refined, featuring rough and rugged surfaces instead of a single curved fender found in regular models. The motorcycle utilizes Upside Down forks for the front wheel and a red sports shock absorber for the rear.
An impressive change is the integration of turn signals into the bodywork. This alteration addresses the vulnerability of separate light types to collision and breakage in parking lots or narrow spaces, showcasing Honda’s responsiveness to consumer feedback.
The side fairing has also undergone beautiful adjustments, exuding a more sturdy and airy feel compared to the previous generation. The complex patterns have been replaced with a slender side fairing, featuring a large hole that enhances aerodynamics, resembling the sportbike models of the brand such as CBR500R or CBR1000R.
The neatly placed 150cc engine block is accentuated by two bright metal circles, while the front and rear footrests are made of high-quality alloy, adding a beautiful and premium touch.
The side fairings of the 2022 Winner X have also undergone adjustments. The complex design has been replaced with simple surfaces, providing a neat and airy appearance. The “Winner X” decals contribute to the youthful look of the bike.
The two-layer dark-colored leather seat is accompanied by a detachable bullhorn handlebar, a feature that carries over from the previous model. The fuel tank, with a capacity of 4.5L, is located beneath the seat.
The hidden LED brake indicator and detachable rear turn signals, also present in the previous version, are situated in the same cluster as the rear fender, with an integrated license plate lighting.
Convenient and thrilling performance
The 2022 Honda Winner X is equipped with a 149.1cc engine and a 6-speed manual transmission, capable of reaching a maximum power of 11.5kW at 9,000 rpm. The overall system is known for its smoothness, a characteristic common to Honda models across different displacements.
The bike is easy to maintain and quickly adaptable. Daily city commuting is hassle-free and fatigue-free. However, the 2022 Winner X can still deliver the thrill of speed when desired.
With a simple twist of the throttle to a speed of over 5,000 rpm, the rider can immediately experience the instant power transmitted to the rear, propelling the Winner X forward.
The 2022 Winner X is equipped with ABS anti-lock brakes for the front wheel and disc brakes for the rear, ensuring safe deceleration. This safety feature allows riders to confidently maneuver the bike on slippery surfaces or wet roads.
The LED electronic display visually indicates the engine speed. This modern and elegant detail is shared by the Honda CBR150R. The incandescent light type ensures good display quality even under strong sunlight.
Moreover, the 2022 Winner X includes a convenient USB 2.1V charging port located below the left handlebar. On the right side, the mechanical key has been modernized into a Smartkey.
Responding to consumer feedback, Honda has adjusted the angle of the exhaust pipe, lowering it by 21 degrees compared to the previous version to minimize disturbance to trailing vehicles. This change is highly commendable for the 2022 Winner X.
For enhanced convenience during long-distance rides, Honda Vietnam has equipped the motorcycle with an O-ring chain.
