B-segment SUV sales in November 2023 (unit: cars)

Hyundai Creta: 1,218 cars

The sales of the Hyundai Creta in November 2023 saw a slight decrease of 1.3%, with 1,218 cars sold. Despite this decline, the Hyundai Creta remains the best-selling B-segment SUV in the market, maintaining its position from October 2023. Additionally, the Hyundai Creta also secured the 6th position overall among the top 10 best-selling cars in Vietnam in November.

Hyundai Creta

Throughout the year, the Hyundai Creta has achieved a sales volume of 8,766 cars. With this impressive number, the Hyundai Creta has the potential to surpass the Toyota Corolla Cross and become the best-selling B-segment SUV in Vietnam for the year 2023.

The success of the Hyundai Creta can be attributed to a combination of factors, including its youthful and fashionable design, competitive pricing, and well-equipped features. As a domestically assembled car, the Hyundai Creta also benefits from a 50% reduction in the registration fee, in line with the government’s policy.

Key features of this Korean model include a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and touchscreen infotainment display, Apple Carplay/Android Auto connectivity, an 8-speaker audio system, leather seats with heating/cooling function, 6 airbags, and advanced safety features such as Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), Blind-Spot Collision Avoidance (BCA), Lane Keeping Assist (LFA), and Rear Cross Traffic Collision Avoidance (RCCA).

Under the hood, the Hyundai Creta is powered by a Smartstream 4-cylinder gasoline engine with a 1.5L displacement, delivering a maximum power of 115 hp and a peak torque of 144 Nm. The engine is paired with an intelligent variable transmission (iVT) and front-wheel drive.

Toyota Yaris Cross: 1,092 cars

The Toyota Yaris Cross has showcased the most impressive growth in the Vietnamese market over the past month. In November 2023, the model sold 1,092 units, marking a staggering increase of 364.6% compared to the previous month. This remarkable achievement has propelled the Toyota Yaris Cross to the 2nd position in its segment, even surpassing the Kia Seltos.

Toyota Yaris Cross

One of the contributing factors to this outstanding performance is the attractive promotional program for the Toyota Yaris Cross. In November 2023, the B-segment SUV continued to enjoy a 100% registration fee reduction, with a maximum value of 73 million VND for the petrol version and 86 million VND for the hybrid version. Additionally, customers purchasing the Toyota Yaris Cross also receive a comprehensive insurance package worth 23.3 million VND, valid for 2 years. Thus, the total value of incentives for this model amounts to 100 million VND.

The Toyota Yaris Cross in Vietnam currently offers 2 variants with a price range of 730 – 850 million VND. Despite being relatively high-priced, the car comes equipped with a comprehensive set of features, even in the standard version. These include full LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, 18-inch wheels, LED taillights, a 7-inch TFT digital instrument cluster, a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment display, wireless phone charging, interior ambient lighting, a 360-degree camera, and standard ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems).

Depending on the variant, the car can be equipped with either a 1.5L petrol engine or a hybrid powertrain. The 1.5L petrol engine generates a maximum power of 105 hp and a peak torque of 138 Nm, combined with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). On the other hand, the hybrid powertrain combines a 1.5L petrol engine (90 hp), an electric motor (79 hp), and a lithium-ion battery.

Kia Seltos: 1,054 cars

Due to the outstanding performance of the Toyota Yaris Cross, the Kia Seltos has slipped to the 3rd position in the segment. In November 2023, Kia Seltos achieved sales of 1,054 cars, representing a decrease of 3.39%.

Kia Seltos

Similar to the Hyundai Creta, the Kia Seltos is highly regarded for its attractive design, competitive pricing, and adequate equipment. The car features LED headlights, 17-inch wheels, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment display, automatic air conditioning, and a 6-speaker audio system.

However, the Kia Seltos falls short in terms of advanced safety features compared to many of its competitors in the same segment. It is equipped with 2-6 airbags, parking assist sensors, electronic stability control, hill-start assist control, and a rearview camera. The car does not offer active safety features available in many other competitors in the same segment.

Additionally, the Kia Seltos comes with two engine options: a 1.6L engine and a 1.4L turbocharged engine. The naturally aspirated 1.6L engine delivers a maximum power of 121 hp and a peak torque of 151 Nm. The turbocharged 1.4L engine generates 138 hp and 242 Nm. Both engines can be paired with either a 6-speed automatic transmission or a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Currently, the Kia Seltos offers 8 variants with prices ranging from 599 – 724 million VND.

Honda HR-V: 443 cars

Unlike its Korean competitors, the Honda HR-V demonstrated positive growth in November 2023. The model achieved a sales volume of 443 cars, reflecting an increase of 21.3%. However, this growth has not been sufficient to improve the Honda HR-V’s position in the segment.

Honda HR-V

The Honda HR-V commands relatively high prices in the segment, ranging from 699 – 871 million VND. This pricing structure has made it challenging for the model to achieve high sales figures.

Nevertheless, the Honda HR-V boasts an attractive design, convenient and modern features, and a high level of safety. The Japanese model comes equipped with an 8-inch touchscreen, dual-zone automatic air conditioning with new smart air vents, an electronic parking brake, and temporary brake hold. Additionally, it offers the standard ADAS advanced driving-assistance system package.

The Honda HR-V in Vietnam offers two engine options. The first one is a naturally aspirated 1.5L petrol engine, generating a maximum power of 119 hp and a peak torque of 145 Nm. The second one is a turbocharged 1.5L engine, delivering maximum figures of 174 hp and 240 Nm.

Toyota Corolla Cross: 355 cars

In the initial months of 2023, the Toyota Corolla Cross consistently held the top position as the best-selling B-segment SUV. However, in recent months, the model has been displaced by its Korean competitors. Moreover, the Toyota Corolla Cross has recorded lower sales volumes than the Honda HR-V, with 355 units sold in November. Despite a month-on-month increase of 11.9%, the model still remains the segment leader in terms of sales.

Toyota Corolla Cross

Similarly to the HR-V and Yaris Cross, the Toyota Corolla Cross faces a pricing challenge, with prices ranging from 760 – 955 million VND. However, the model appeals to Vietnamese consumers due to its reputable brand, high practicality, fuel efficiency, spacious dimensions, and ample interior space within the segment.

The Toyota Corolla Cross is equipped with features such as a 7-inch multi-information display, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment display, leather seats with power adjustment, a 6-speaker audio system, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, and the standard Toyota Safety Sense active safety technology package.

Upon purchase, customers can select between two engine options. The first one is a 1.8L petrol engine coupled with a CVT-i continuously variable transmission, generating a maximum power of 140 hp and a peak torque of 172 Nm. The second option is a hybrid powertrain that combines a 1.8L petrol engine (97 hp), an electric motor (79 hp), and a lithium-ion battery. This powertrain is paired with an e-CVT transmission and achieves a maximum torque of 163 Nm.

Mazda CX-30: 229 cars

The Mazda CX-30 continued its growth in November 2023, achieving a sales volume of 229 cars, representing a 10% increase. However, the model’s sales volume remains relatively modest, resulting in no change in its position within the segment.

Mazda CX-30

Recently, the Mazda CX-30 underwent a price adjustment, with prices ranging from 689 – 729 million VND. Compared to the previous pricing structure, the model has become more expensive by 25 million VND. Nonetheless, the design and equipment remain unchanged.

The Mazda CX-30 features a fashionable appearance and a host of amenities, including steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters, a 7-inch LCD instrument cluster, an 8.8-inch infotainment display, an 8-speaker audio system, electronic parking brake with auto hold, a head-up display, 7 airbags, adaptive headlights, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping assist, etc.

Under the hood, the Mazda CX-30 houses a naturally aspirated SkyActiv-G 2.0L petrol engine, generating a maximum power of 153 hp and a peak torque of 200 Nm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive.

Mazda CX-3: 91 cars

As with the previous months, the Mazda CX-3 remains the least sold model in the segment. In November 2023, the model achieved a sales volume of 91 cars, a decrease of 9%.

Mazda CX-3

Recently, the Mazda CX-3 added a new standard variant equipped with a 1.5L automatic transmission, priced at only 524 million VND. The prices of the remaining three variants increased by 8 – 10 million VND, with the price range now standing at 559 – 644 million VND. With the new standard variant, the Mazda CX-3 becomes the most affordable B-segment SUV in Vietnam. However, the model’s limited interior space continues to be its main drawback.

In comparison to its sibling, the CX-30, the Mazda CX-3 offers fewer notable features and a less powerful engine. It is equipped with a SkyActiv-G 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine, capable of producing a maximum power of 110 hp and a peak torque of 144 Nm. The engine is coupled with a 6-speed automatic transmission (Sport mode) and front-wheel drive.

The car also comes with active safety features from the i-Activsense package, which includes blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and driver attention alert, among others.
