Presented as the flagship SUV of the brand, the EV9 is an attention-grabbing vehicle that stays true to its concept version unveiled in 2021. With a bold and premium design, it incorporates Kia’s Opposites United design philosophy, resembling an electric Telluride.
The front fascia is impressive with its “digital tiger face” featuring vertical headlights and prominent LED daytime running lights. It also showcases a sculpted hood, faux skid plate, and a wide lower grille for enhanced aerodynamics.
The design of the EV9 is a captivating blend of soft curves and sharp lines and angles. The square wheel arches provide a sturdy look, while the flush door handles, blacked-out pillars, and floating roof further contribute to its striking appearance. The 4-spoke, 2-tone wheels feature an aerodynamic design.
The distinctive rear design showcases sleek taillights and a large spoiler. Below, the glossy black trim creates a striking contrast with the silver skid plate.
Kia states that the crossover will be available in a 6- or 7-passenger configuration, offering spacious comfort for all occupants similar to sitting in an airport lounge.
The second-row seats can rotate 180 degrees, allowing for interaction with passengers in the third row. The third-row passengers are also provided with cup holders and charging ports.
With the seats shifted to one side, the EV9 features a “floating control panel” that houses a large screen. It combines a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch infotainment display, along with a small 5-inch screen next to them, promising an “enhanced digital experience.” Kia has not disclosed the specific functions of the small screen, but it is likely used for climate control.
Additionally, the car boasts interior ambient lighting, a unique central control cluster, premium 2-tone leather seats, metal trim accents, and geometric speaker grilles.
Kia has kept the specifications under wraps, but the utilization of the Global Electric Modular Platform (E-GMP) and the digital instrument cluster suggest a range exceeding 480 km (298 miles).
The car is expected to commence production this fall. The rumored price for the Kia EV9 in the U.S. market ranges from $56,000 for the standard version up to $73,000 for the top trim.
