The GMC Hummer 2022 and BrightDrop EV600 are both facing issues regarding the waterproof protection system of their battery packs.
General Motors recently discovered technical problems with the GMC Hummer 2022 pertaining to the electrical connections around the doors. This could affect the power windows, door locks, and exterior mirror controls. Some customers may even experience a malfunctioning control circuit, resulting in anti-theft system errors or notifications in the infotainment system.
According to General Motors, the issue is caused by a corroded wire connector due to water intrusion through the A-pillar via the joint connections on the body. For the affected vehicles, service technicians will conduct leak testing and repair or replace the components, as well as apply sealant.
In addition, GM recently issued a recall for 424 GMC Hummer 2022 and BrightDrop EV600 vehicles due to problems with the high-voltage battery pack connectors. The automaker explains that the battery pack connectors may have a faulty waterproof layer, allowing water to enter the battery pack. If there is an issue with the battery pack connectors, a warning light will be illuminated on the driver information display.
To address this problem, GM will add AC Delco RTV Engine Sealant to the faulty high-voltage battery pack connectors. However, due to the involvement of the high-voltage system, service technicians are advised to proceed with extreme caution when repairing this defect.
Owners of the affected vehicles will receive direct notification from GM and will be instructed to visit their nearest dealership for necessary repairs.
