Why You Should Buy Electric Cars Before Tet and Save Hundreds of Million Dong
The Vietnamese auto market is entering its busiest shopping season of the year. To take advantage of customers’ rush to buy cars in December 2023, in order to benefit from a 50% reduction in registration fees for domestically assembled gasoline cars, some companies have immediately increased their prices by nearly a hundred million dong, disappointing buyers.
“I had deposited 20 million to buy a size C SUV, but the dealer informed me of a price increase. Spending an additional nearly a hundred million is not worthwhile. So I switched to buying an electric car, an option I had been considering,” shared Tu Nguyen (Hanoi) on the Vietnamese car user community.
Tu also mentioned that, unlike other automakers who increased their prices at the end of the year, VinFast is offering a discount of 30 million dong and a free year of public charging for customers who order the VF 7 in December. Additionally, with the 100% registration fee exemption for electric cars, Tu found the VF 7 to be a more economical choice compared to the gasoline model he originally intended to purchase.
“Considering that I can save more than a hundred million with the VF 7, it will be more convenient for my Tet expenses,” said Tu, confident that his decision to switch from gasoline to electric was the right one.
Customers who deposit for VinFast VF 7 before 31/12/2023 will receive a direct discount of 30 million dong on the price of the car
Like Tu, Dang Huynh (Hung Yen) took advantage of VinFast’s end-of-year incentives and placed an order for the VF 8. After spending nearly 2 months searching tirelessly for a gasoline model within the 1 billion dong price range, Dang couldn’t find any models that met all his criteria. However, the VF 8, priced at 1 billion dong, exceeded his requirements.
“I chose the Eco version, which offers a direct discount of 121 million dong. The total cost is less than 1 billion dong (rent pin – PV). This cost is even cheaper than some size C SUV models. Additionally, I own a smart electric car with advanced safety features and superior engine power in the D segment,” Dang Huynh explained.

In addition, VinFast also offers two-year free registration fee programs for the VF e34 and VF 9 6-seater models, as well as a 3% discount program for teachers and educators. These incentives help customers save over a hundred million dong when choosing VinFast electric cars for the end of the year.
Low Operating Costs Drive the Trend of Electric Cars During Tet in Vietnam
With a deposit placed for a VF 6 and eagerly awaiting its delivery, Ms. Nguyen Bich Hanh (Ho Chi Minh City) plans to use her electric car for a cross-Vietnam journey during the Tet holiday.
“There are charging stations available throughout the city, along national highways, and expressways. The cost is less than 600 VND/km, saving me 5-6 million dong in fuel costs for a 3-week cross-Vietnam trip,” said Hanh, who has detailed plans for her trip.
Traveling across Vietnam by electric cars has become a trend since VinFast introduced their electric car models to the market two years ago. From the VF e34 to the VF 8, VF 9, and VF 5 Plus, many trips have been made to experience the powerful performance of the vehicles and the convenience of charging VinFast electric cars.
“Electric cars save 3-4 times more on energy costs compared to gasoline cars. Which is why VF 8 owners are willing to travel twice or three times the distance they traveled with gasoline cars,” said Chu Huu Tho, owner of AutoBikes, based on surveys from the VF 8 community in the North.
A wide range of charging stations and energy-saving costs make electric cars a reliable option for cross-country travel
As of December 2023, VinFast’s public charging station system has been deployed in 80 out of 88 cities nationwide. Urban charging stations are planned to be no more than 3.5 km apart, making it convenient for customers to charge their vehicles in just a few minutes. VinFast’s charging station system covers 106 national highways and expressways, providing different power levels, from regular charging to super-fast charging, making long-distance travel by electric cars simple and efficient.
“Traveling by electric cars is not different from traveling by gasoline cars. In fact, we have even completed cross-country trips earlier than planned. We only spent 3 hours and 8 minutes on charging, with over 25 hours for actual driving. That’s a remarkable achievement,” said Nguyen Manh Thang, CEO of Whatcar Vietnam, who has made several cross-country trips in VinFast electric cars.
Viet Anh, also known as Mr. Viet Anh, who has traveled 24,000 km across provinces in a VF e34, believes that electric cars have several advantages over gasoline cars, especially on long trips. These advantages include smooth driving, powerful engines, and intelligent driving experiences with multiple driver assistance features.
“Electric vehicles run smoothly and respond quickly, whether it’s overtaking other cars or ascending hills. Driving electric cars on long trips also provides a higher level of safety,” said Viet Anh, highlighting the advantages of VinFast electric cars.
With numerous incentives, low operating costs, and superior performance compared to gasoline cars, all at a similar price range, VinFast electric cars have become the top choice for families during the end-of-year shopping season to fulfill their Tet and Lunar New Year needs.
