Following its launch in Southeast Asian countries, including Vietnam, the recently unveiled Honda CR-V 2024 is now available in the Malaysian market. The lineup consists of three conventional engine options, including the 1.5 S, 1.5 E, and 1.5 V models, as well as the 2.0 e:HEV RS hybrid variant.

As of now, only the prices for the 1.5 S, 1.5 E, and 1.5 V models have been released, starting at 159,900 RM (approximately 797 million VND), 169,900 RM (approximately 847 million VND), and 181,900 RM (approximately 907 million), respectively. The CR-V 2024 is noticeably cheaper in Malaysia compared to Vietnam. With this price range, the CR-V poses a significant challenge to the dominant Mazda CX-5 in the Crossover C segment.

All three AWD versions, namely the 1.5 S, 1.5 E, and 1.5 V, come equipped with a turbocharged 1.5L VTEC engine. The power output of this turbocharged engine remains unchanged from the previous generation, delivering 190 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and a torque of 243 Nm from 1,700 to 5,000 rpm. It continues to be paired with the familiar CVT automatic transmission. The top speed for all three models is capped at 200 km/h.

As for the top-of-the-line hybrid variant, it features the Intelligent Multi-Mode Drive (i-MMD) system, similar to the one found in the Civic e:HEV RS. This system combines the operation of an electric motor and a gasoline engine. The 2.0L naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine primarily serves as a generator, producing an output of 146 horsepower and 190 Nm of torque. On the other hand, the electric motor provides 181 horsepower and 335 Nm of torque.

In Thailand, the CR-V Hybrid is available in both two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive versions. However, in the Malaysian market, the CR-V e:HEV is only offered with front-wheel drive, similar to the configuration in Vietnam. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via the e-CVT gearbox.

In terms of exterior design, the sixth-generation C-segment crossover is equipped with automatic LED headlights and LED daytime running lights as standard across all variants. The 1.5 E model adds front fog lights and a kick sensor for the trunk, while the V AWD version features chrome-plated exhaust pipes. The RS variant includes roof rails, black accents, and RS badges.

Regarding the wheels, the standard S version comes with 17-inch double-spoke wheels in Sparkle Silver, while the E and V versions are equipped with 18-inch wheels. The e:HEV RS variant features sporty 18-inch black wheels.

Inside the cabin, the interior design remains similar to the Honda CR-V 2024 currently available in Vietnam. All models come with a 7-inch digital instrument cluster positioned behind the steering wheel, while the RS Hybrid version boasts a larger 10.25-inch display. Other standard features include remote engine start, keyless entry, cruise control, and a 9-inch infotainment display.

However, the base 1.5 S model features black fabric seats and manually adjustable front seats, which might disappoint some users. Starting from the E version, the seats and steering wheel are wrapped in leather. The RS variant stands out with its premium Bose speakers and Adaptive Driving Beam for the LED headlights.

Honda Sensing, a suite of advanced safety features, comes as standard on the Honda CR-V 2024 in Malaysia. Upgrades include a new 90-degree view camera and an improved 120-degree scanning radar, enhancing emergency response capabilities such as lane-keeping assist and adaptive cruise control. The LaneWatch side camera system is still equipped instead of a blind-spot monitor.

In Vietnam, the Honda CR-V 2024 is currently available in four versions: G, L, e:HEV RS, and L AWD, with prices ranging from 1.109 – 1.310 billion VND. These prices are considerably higher compared to the Malaysian market. The CR-V faces competition from rivals such as the Mazda CX-5 (priced at 749-999 million VND), Hyundai Tucson (priced at 769-899 million VND), Ford Territory (priced at 822-935 million VND), and more.
