Hyundai and Kia both experienced significant sales growth in 2023, providing a strong foundation for even greater success in 2024.

Two of the largest car brands from Korea, Hyundai and Kia, had an outstanding year in 2023 with substantial sales growth. According to statistics, Hyundai’s total vehicle sales in 2023 reached 4,216,680 units, representing a 6.9% increase compared to 2022. The company’s sales in its domestic market, South Korea, grew by 10.6% to 688,884 vehicles. Meanwhile, international markets saw a 6.2% increase in sales, reaching 3,254,038 vehicles.

In 2024, Hyundai aims to produce 4,243,000 vehicles globally, with 704,000 vehicles being produced in South Korea and 3,539,000 vehicles in other markets.

Kia also achieved remarkable success in 2023, setting a new record for global sales with 3,085,771 vehicles delivered to customers, a 6.3% increase compared to 2022. Sales in South Korea rose by 4.6% to 538,822 vehicles, while international markets experienced a 6.7% growth, reaching 2,516,383 vehicles.

In 2024, Kia plans to manufacture 3.2 million vehicles worldwide, including 530,000 vehicles in South Korea, 2.63 million vehicles in international markets, and 7,000 special-purpose vehicles.

To achieve their sales targets, both Hyundai and Kia will introduce new models in various markets. Hyundai recently refreshed the Tucson in its domestic market and is set to launch it globally in the coming months. The urban crossover Casper EV will be introduced in Europe, joining the Hyundai Bayon and i30 in its lineup. Additionally, the large electric SUV Ioniq 7 is ready for production and may be released internationally this year.

Meanwhile, Kia is also focusing on upgrading the Morning, K3, K5, Sorento, and Carnival models, as well as introducing new electric models EV3, EV4, and EV5. The all-new sedan model Kia K4, which replaces the Forte, is also in the pipeline for introduction.
