The smallest crossover model for the Asian market from Kia was introduced in 2020 and underwent a facelift in 2024. The main focus of the upgrade lies in the exterior changes, with the addition of boomerang-shaped LED headlights that extend from the front bumper, and a broader tiger-nose grille. Black accents accompany the headlight connections, while faux aluminum finishing can be seen on the front panels.

Moreover, the car now comes with new color options and noteworthy 16-inch alloy wheels. The rear of the car is equipped with LED taillights that are similar to those found on other Kia models, including the Kia Caren. The faux aluminum details on the bumper have also been redesigned. Interestingly, the design of the Kia Sonet for the Indian market differs from the one intended for the Chinese market, as evidenced by leaked photos a few months ago.

The interior changes are less noticeable, as the dashboard retains its current layout. The cabin still features a 10.25-inch infotainment screen and a 1-inch digital display. The air conditioning system has been readjusted, and there are options for leather or fabric upholstery. Depending on the version, the features may include wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay connectivity, wireless charging, ventilated seats, a Bose sound system, sunroof, air purifier, six standard airbags, and new ADAS technology.

The drivetrain options remain unchanged from the previous version, with the MPi 1.2L engine producing 82 horsepower, the T-GDi 1.0L engine producing 118 horsepower, and the 1.5L engine. The CRDi diesel engine delivers 114 horsepower. All versions are front-wheel drive, and the drivetrain determines the type of transmission.

Kia has not yet announced the price of the Sonet facelift in India, but it is expected to see a slight increase compared to the previous version. Orders for the revamped model will be accepted starting from December 20, 2023, with the first deliveries scheduled for mid-January 2024. The Kia Sonet is manufactured in Anantapur, India.
