Lada Kalina Sport: A New Small Hatchback with Enhanced Performance
Lada, a Russian car brand under the AvtoVAZ group, has introduced a new small hatchback called Kalina Sport. This hatchback model is specifically designed with enhanced performance in mind.
Lada Kalina Sport
The Kalina Sport is developed based on the regular Lada Kalina, but it features a more aggressive design. Notable exterior features include a split black front grille, side air vents, and a faux diffuser integrated into the rear bumper. Additionally, the car is equipped with a rear spoiler attached to the trunk lid and multi-spoke alloy wheels replacing the regular Kalina’s steel wheels.
Inside the Kalina Sport, you’ll find a new three-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel with red stitching, sports seats with a two-tone design for added comfort, a leather-wrapped gear shifter, and a touch-screen display on the center console.
In terms of convenience and luxury features, the Kalina Sport offers Bluetooth connectivity, a navigation system, automatic headlights, rain-sensing wipers, power-adjustable windows, and heated seats as standard. These features make it the most luxurious and technologically advanced model from Lada to date.
Powering the Kalina Sport is a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder, 16-valve engine that produces a maximum output of 118 horsepower. The engine is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission, delivering power to the front wheels. As a result, the Kalina Sport can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 9.5 seconds and achieve a top speed of 196 km/h.
In terms of safety, Lada has included front airbags and curtain airbags for passengers in the front seat. Additionally, the Kalina Sport is equipped with an anti-lock braking system (ABS).
The official unveiling of the Lada Kalina Sport is scheduled to take place at the Moscow 2014 exhibition, starting from August 27th. Following the exhibition, the car will be available on the Russian market at a starting price of 487,000 Ruble, which is equivalent to 13,600 USD.
