Artcurial Motorcars Retromobile recently held an auction where a vintage Ferrari supercar called 335 Sport Scaglietti was sold for a staggering $35.7 million, equivalent to 32 million Euros. This makes it the most expensive Ferrari supercar ever in terms of Euros.

The auctioned Ferrari 335 Sport Scaglietti from 1957.

According to initial reports, an anonymous international bidder outbid everyone else by spending $35.7 million on this vintage Ferrari. Rumor has it that the mysterious bidder is none other than Argentine soccer superstar Lionel Messi.

This information was disclosed by Proto Organisation, a company owned by Alessandro Proto, who previously owned the Ferrari 335 Sport Scaglietti from 1957.

Proto Organisation also mentioned that soccer rival Cristiano Ronaldo, known for his passion for luxury cars, also showed interest in the Ferrari 335 Sport Scaglietti from 1957. However, Messi ultimately emerged as the auction winner. Despite this gossip, reliable sources close to Messi have denied these rumors.

Ronaldo, a soccer player known for his love of cars, owns an extensive collection of luxury vehicles that rivals David Beckham’s collection. His collection includes brands such as Maserati, Bentley, Aston Martin, Porsche, Audi, Ferrari, BMW, and Lamborghini.

Compared to Ronaldo, Messi doesn’t own as many cars. The Barcelona forward is associated with cars like the Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale, Audi R8, Audi Q7, and Audi Q5.

But the legacy of this car doesn’t stop there. It was the first car to reach speeds of over 200 km/h on the Le Mans 24 Hours circuit. Moreover, it has a connection to racing legend Sir Stirling Moss, who drove this Ferrari 335 Sport Scaglietti to victory in the Cuba Grand Prix race in 1958.
