During the Lunar New Year season, MG dealerships are currently offering significant discounts for the RX5 model to attract customers. The largest discount can be found at an MG dealership in Phu Tho province.

This particular dealership is offering the MG RX5 at the attractive prices of 609 million VND for the standard STD version and 669 million VND for the high-end LUX version. Compared to the listed prices, both versions of this mid-size SUV receive discounts of up to 130 million VND.

The MG RX5 is now available at a discounted price, starting below the standard Hyundai Creta

Meanwhile, a dealership in Ho Chi Minh City has launched a special program for customers purchasing the RX5, providing a cash gift of 100 million VND to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the MG brand. Additionally, customers who buy this mid-size SUV will also receive a 20 million VND physical insurance for 2 years. In total, the incentives for this Chinese car model amount to 120 million VND.

In Vietnam, the MG RX5 is available in two versions: the STD and the LUX, priced at 739 million VND and 829 million VND, respectively. With the current prices at the dealership, the MG RX5 is more affordable than B-segment SUV models such as the Kia Seltos (604 – 714 million VND), Hyundai Creta (640 – 740 million VND), Toyota Yaris Cross (650 – 765 million VND), and Honda HR-V (699 – 871 million VND).

However, this is not the highest cash incentive offered for the MG RX5 since its launch in Vietnam. In December 2023, an MG dealership in Dak Lak province provided a cash gift of 145 million VND for the MG RX5.

Introduced in Vietnam in September 2023, the MG RX5 is positioned as a competitor to the Mazda CX-5, Hyundai Tucson, and Honda CR-V. However, due to its price and equipment not being very attractive, as well as the brand factor, this car model is unlikely to pose a significant threat to its Hanoi and Japanese rivals.

The MG RX5 is a newcomer in the mid-size SUV segment in Vietnam

The MG RX5 bears both the name and exterior design that evoke the luxury SUV Lexus RX. This can be observed in the car’s front design featuring a large 3D grille extending to the front bumper. Additionally, this Chinese car model is equipped with LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, 19-inch alloy wheels, power tailgate, and power/adjustable/foldable/retractable mirrors with integrated turn signals.

Inside the MG RX5, you will find a 5-seat interior with leather seats, a flat-bottom sports steering wheel with paddle shifters, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.1-inch vertical center touchscreen, sunroof, electronic parking brake, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, a 6-speaker sound system, and wireless phone charging.

Powering the MG RX5 is a 1.5L 4-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine that delivers a maximum output of 168 horsepower and a peak torque of 275 Nm. This engine is mated to a 7-speed wet dual-clutch automatic transmission and front-wheel drive.

In terms of safety equipment, the MG RX5 falls behind its segment rivals. It only offers basic safety features and lacks advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). The MG RX5 is equipped with 6 airbags, a 360-degree camera, cruise control system, front/rear parking sensors, tire pressure sensors, anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic brake force distribution (EBD), brake control when cornering, emergency brake assist (BA), electronic stability control, rollover prevention, hill start assist, and hill descent control.

With the discounted price at the dealership, the MG RX5 becomes more competitive during the Lunar New Year period.
