According to SCMP sources on June 4, two female victims, aged 22 and 26, were living together in Lung Mei Tsuen, Taipo. They were fatally stabbed in a random attack at the Hollywood Plaza shopping center in Diamond Hill on the afternoon of June 2.
The two victims resided with another couple in a three-story house in the village. Coincidentally, this house is located only about 300 meters away from where model Abby Choi was murdered and dismembered in a killing spree in February. During that time, the model’s skull, legs, and some ribs were found on the ground floor of the same house, while the rest of her body has yet to be discovered.
A local villager stated that the two victims were frequently seen traveling by private car.
“The girls often drive. It’s a cute car. They usually leave the house early in the morning and return late,” the villager said.
Sources have reported that the two victims had plans to attend the birthday party of the 26-year-old girl’s grandfather after leaving the Diamond Hill shopping center.
“I was genuinely shocked when I heard the news just minutes after my family and I left the shopping center,” a shopper at Diamond Hill who departed before the attack occurred shared.
On June 2, a mentally unstable unemployed 39-year-old man purchased a 30cm knife from a store in the shopping center. He then quickly approached the two women from behind and proceeded to stab the 22-year-old girl at least 25 times within a minute.
The police have confirmed that the suspect did not know the victims. This attack has sent shockwaves throughout Hong Kong, where violent crimes are incredibly rare.
