Omoda 5, with its modern features and captivating appearance, is set to be an intriguing option in Vietnam’s B-segment SUV/CUV market.

Despite being announced since last year, Omoda 5, the Chinese-brand B-segment CUV, has not yet made its official debut in Vietnam. However, it has been publicly displayed in Vietnam to gather feedback and opinions from experts and consumers. Recently, the Chinese automaker also revealed some information about the equipment list of Omoda 5.

The version of Omoda 5 sold in the Vietnamese market comes with a turbocharged 1.5L petrol engine, capable of delivering 150 horsepower and 230 Nm of torque at 1,750-4,500 rpm. It has an acceleration time from 0 to 100 km/h of 9.9 seconds and a fuel consumption of 7.1 liters/100km. Thus, the Vietnamese version of Omoda 5 will not have the 1.6L I4 engine offered in the Chinese market.

In addition, this B-segment CUV also boasts several modern safety features, including adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, emergency automatic braking, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, and adaptive automatic high beams.

Omoda 5 has dimensions of 4,400 x 1,830 x 1,588 mm in length, width, and height, respectively. It is slightly larger than its rivals in the B-segment SUV/CUV category, such as the Kia Seltos and Honda HR-V. The car impresses with its stylish exterior design, thanks to the new Art in Motion philosophy, which is also Chery’s first application of this design philosophy in an SUV.

Omoda 5 features a large full-width grille with an assertive design, accompanied by a two-tier headlight system. Additionally, it has a narrow “T”-shaped LED daytime running light. The body design slants towards the rear, and the windows are narrow. The car is equipped with 18-inch dual-tone 5-spoke alloy wheels. At the rear, you will find horizontally arranged taillights and rectangular-shaped faux exhaust tips positioned fairly high.

Inside, Omoda 5 is equipped with two 10.25-inch floating screens on the dashboard, following the style found in luxury cars. Moreover, this CUV also features a sporty-bottomed steering wheel and body-hugging sports seats. The seats can be customized with various colors, reflecting the car’s youthful spirit. Other notable features include wireless smartphone charging, a panoramic sunroof, and a 64-color ambient lighting system.

Previous reports suggest that Omoda 5 will be available in Vietnam in three variants: COM, LUX, and PRE, with expected prices of 699 million VND, 749 million VND, and 799 million VND, respectively. If these reports are accurate, Omoda 5 may face tough competition as most of its rivals in the CUV segment have starting prices below 700 million VND. Currently, the Kia Seltos is priced between 604-714 million VND, while the Hyundai Creta is priced at 640-740 million VND. The Toyota Yaris Cross falls on the higher end of the price range, ranging from 730-838 million VND. However, Toyota is currently offering discounts of nearly 100 million VND to attract customers.
