If you are a biker who loves naked bikes and especially mid-range naked bikes, the Aprilia Tuono 660 is an excellent choice. When it comes to the Aprilia brand, we think of Italy – the birthplace of the most beautiful, stylish, and expensive motorcycle brands in the world. In 2021, this company launched the Aprilia Tuono 660, a naked bike version of the Aprilia 660 line, with its appearance, equipment, and price being at the top position in the segment.

Recently, we had an official experience of the Aprilia Tuono 660 and had a lot of emotions when “twisting” this number 1 bike.

Appearance and equipment of Aprilia Tuono 660: Unique

The Aprilia Tuono 660 – a model “twin” with the Aprilia RS 660 – shares many characteristics with its sibling.

First, in terms of appearance, this newcomer is similar to previous Tuono versions from Aprilia. This naked bike model has an extremely unique and different beauty compared to other naked bikes with its large fairing and identical headlight design as the Sport version. This is a strange design, but it has a beauty that makes many bikers dream. This is a special and distinct feature of the Tuono 660, and because of that, this beauty will be quite picky.

In the “bulky” front end, the Aprilia Tuono 660 is more neatly cut than the RS 660 and uses the same distinctive 3-compartment headlight system with eye-catching position lights. Of course, the lights on the bike are equipped with modern full LED and have good lighting ability in urban environments.

In addition, because the naked bike model has a large front fairing like a sport bike, it has good wind resistance for the rider. Not only the fairing, but the Tuono 660 also has a short windscreen suitable for bikers to duck from the wind.

Next, the Tuono 660 is equipped with tall Renthal handlebars and a beautiful Deltabox aluminum frame – a feature that every motorcycle model desires as it enhances the attractiveness of the large-displacement motorcycle. The total weight of the Aprilia Tuono 660 is only 183kg on a powerful 95-horsepower engine, so it will be a quite lightweight and powerful motorcycle that makes the throttle more responsive and exciting.

A full-color TFT dashboard is equipped on the Aprilia Tuono 660, inherited from the RS 660. This dashboard has a sharp display of information as well as customizable riding modes for the naked bike. Of course, these riding modes are made possible by the state-of-the-art technologies applied to the bike, such as Traction Control, Wheelie control, Cruise control, Engine brake, and some pre-set maps for different driving modes.

Aprilia did not forget to equip its most expensive naked bike with a high-end suspension system, with a 41mm USD front fork and a KYB monoshock that can both be adjusted for stiffness.

In terms of the wheels, the bike has lightweight cast aluminum rims with a simple yet stunning design in a standout color. On top of that are the large dual disc brakes at the front, Brembo calipers, and a single disc at the rear, also with a Brembo caliper. Of course, ABS is integrated into the bike, ensuring safety and efficiency when turning.

In the rear, the bike has large, lightweight aluminum pillion footrests that contribute to the bike’s weight of less than 190kg. With a solid design and a prominent aluminum paint, the bike looks very modern and reminiscent of the racing track.

In the seating area, the twin-tiered saddle is cleverly linked to the high tail design of the Tuono. With a slim, lightweight, and comfortable rider seat, the bike’s seat height of 820mm is suitable for riders with a height of 1.63m or above.

The tail of the Aprilia Tuono 660 has a design similar to its sibling RS 660, with a beautiful and prominent bird wing-shaped taillight. In addition, the bike’s turn signals are also sleek and modern, made with full LED lighting.

In summary, the exterior and equipment of the Aprilia Tuono 660 make it a new model in the Vietnamese market with a special and distinct design. With its eye-catching appearance and a range of high-quality equipment, as well as state-of-the-art safety technologies, the Aprilia Tuono 660 deserves to be at the top of the segment.

Engine of the Aprilia Tuono 660: Smooth at low revs, powerful at high revs, and cool

Aprilia equips the Tuono 660 and the RS 660 with the same 2-cylinder parallel engine, a displacement of 659cc, and liquid cooling. This engine block produces 95 horsepower at 7,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 67Nm at 8,500 rpm.

As mentioned above, this engine block of the Tuono 660 is supported by many modern technologies on large-displacement motorcycles. Among them, the Aprilia Perfomance Ride Control (APRC) electronic package includes automatic throttle control, traction control, wheelie control, etc. All contribute to creating an engine block with high power and safety.

What’s more, although it has nearly 100 horsepower, the actual fuel consumption of the Aprilia Tuono 660 is very impressive. The display on the dashboard shows that the bike consumes only about 22.3 km/liter of petrol. This is a figure that many rivals in the market will envy despite being weaker.

Furthermore, the cooling ability of the 660 engine on the Tuono is extremely impressive. Moving in congested areas in hot weather, the bike only stops at the third temperature mark and cannot reach the fourth mark out of the total 6 temperature marks on the dashboard. In reality, the rider’s perception is also not subjected to excessive heat emitted from the engine or the bike’s radiator.

Performance of the Aprilia Tuono 660: Smooth, powerful, and efficient

In terms of performance, riding the Aprilia Tuono 660 is a confirmation of its “best in segment” title for this naked bike model.

From the first vibrations when starting up, the Aprilia Tuono 660 provides a unique feeling. The sound from the twin-cylinder engine of the bike gives a very strong and quite similar feeling to an 800cc V-twin engine with the stock exhaust. Of course, the feeling of engine power through the exhaust of the bike gives a strong and dual-breathing sensation compared to rivals in the same segment, such as the Honda CB650R or Kawasaki 650.

The bike has 3 riding modes, including Commute, Dynamic, and Individual, for different types of roads and travel needs. Among them, the Individual mode is the most powerful, and you can customize everything in this mode to “have fun” with the Tuono 660.

At engine speeds below 5,000 RPM, the Tuono 660 impresses as an easy-to-ride and smooth naked bike. The gentle riding sensation of the bike at low revs is also noteworthy for the most powerful engine block in this segment.

However, at engine speeds of 7,000 RPM and above, the bike truly transforms and delivers the expected power. The bike has an extended burst of power from the mid-range to high revs, allowing the bike to reach top speed quickly. At the same time, the exhaust sound also changes from this engine speed to a deeper and more forceful sound. Achieving high speeds quite quickly combined with a lightweight frame will overwhelm new riders. Therefore, if you are a new rider, choose the Commute mode to gradually get used to the engine power when you have all the necessary safety technologies intervening in the bike.

The bike is also equipped with original tires that deserve special mention. Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa II – a tire model favored by many bikers for its impressive road grip. This, combined with its lightweight frame, smooth engine, and responsive throttle, allows the bike to handle corners very well and gives a high level of confidence to the rider.

Summary

In conclusion, the Aprilia Tuono 660 is a naked bike model that impresses with its impressive mobility, smoothness, and coolness like Japanese bikes but shows the power and masculinity of European bikes. It deserves to be experienced seriously.

However, the biggest barrier for Vietnamese bikers to experience and own the Aprilia Tuono 660 is the price. The price for this fully imported naked bike from Italy is 475 million VND. This is a figure that is quite hard to reach for Vietnamese bikers when with that amount, we can easily own many other super products, both old and new, in the motorcycle market. Currently, the Aprilia Tuono 660 is available in the European market with a price of about 305 million VND.
