The Wuling Hongguang Mini EV has become one of the most successful electric cars globally, with over 1 million units sold within a few years. Its popularity stems from its adorable design, spacious interior accommodating four adults, and its compact size, which makes it ideal for navigating through crowded Chinese streets. What truly sets it apart, however, is its affordability, making it one of the most economical cars in the country.
After its introduction three years ago, the Wuling Hongguang Mini EV is now officially available for sale in Vietnam, becoming the most inexpensive car on the market. However, the model’s sales in our country have not met the distributor’s expectations, resulting in dealerships promptly launching enticing promotional campaigns. The quickest approach to reducing the price is through cash discounts, beginning at 5 million VND, followed by 10 million VND, and 15 million VND. By the end of November, the discount had reached 30 million VND, and recently, dealerships have even decreased the price by 40 million VND for the Wuling Hongguang Mini EV.
The discount applies to all four versions of the Wuling Hongguang Mini EV, marking the first time this Chinese electric car is available for less than 200 million VND in Vietnam. In fact, the post-discount price of the Wuling Hongguang Mini EV is only about 40 million VND higher than that of the Honda SH350i scooter.
Similar to Vietnam, the sales of the Wuling Hongguang Mini EV in its home country have also seen a decline. This can be attributed to the entry of various other automakers into the market with small, affordable electric cars. Consequently, the SAIC-GM-Wuling joint venture decided to release an enhanced version, featuring minor design updates, a fast-charging capability, and an increased range compared to its predecessor.
The Wuling Hongguang Mini EV currently available in Vietnam is equipped with a single electric motor, producing a maximum power output of 17.4 horsepower. While the car can reach a top speed of 100 km/h, its optimal speed falls between 60-80 km/h. Furthermore, this Chinese electric car offers a range of 120 km to 170 km on a single charge, equivalent to the distance from Saigon to Vung Tau.
Honda Accord: 40 Years of Automotive Excellence
Looking at the Vietnamese car market right now and humorously comparing it, we will see Camry as a well-behaved young girl, not outstanding in every aspect but easily becoming the choice of the “other half”. Teana, on the other hand, is like a dignified and tranquil woman, full of courage. Meanwhile, Mazda6 is like a hot girl, quickly attracting and captivating anyone’s gaze from the first encounter. As for Accord – with the elegance and experiences of a U30 lady, even though she is always praised by everyone, she hides something “difficult to deal with” in the minds of the majority.
