The Maruti Suzuki Joint Venture in India has unveiled the production version of the affordable Ciaz model. Specifically designed for the Indian market, the Suzuki Ciaz is set to be available for purchase starting in October.
The Suzuki Ciaz is actually the production model of the Authentics concept car, which was first showcased at the 2013 Shanghai Motor Show. Positioned within the small sedan segment, the Suzuki Ciaz presents a strong competition to the Honda City in the Indian market in the near future.
The Suzuki Ciaz has an overall length of 4,490 mm, a width of 1,730 mm, and a height of 1,485 mm. Additionally, the car has a wheelbase measuring 2,650 mm. Compared to its segment rivals, the Suzuki Ciaz boasts slightly smaller dimensions.
The new offering from Suzuki in the Indian market is equipped with multi-spoke alloy wheels measuring 16 inches in diameter and a spacious trunk with a volume of 510 liters. The petrol version of the Suzuki Ciaz weighs only 1,010 kg, whereas the diesel version weighs 1,105 kg.
Under the hood, the Suzuki Ciaz is powered by a 4-cylinder petrol engine with a displacement of 1.4 liters, capable of generating a maximum power of 91 horsepower and maximum torque of 130 Nm. Additionally, there is a 4-cylinder diesel engine with the Fiat Multijet label, featuring a displacement of 1.3 liters, a maximum power of 89 horsepower, and a maximum torque of 200 Nm.
According to Suzuki, the Ciaz will come with a wide range of features, including automatic air conditioning, keyless ignition, rear air conditioning vents, an integrated touchscreen navigation system, power outlet, and electric trunk opening. Other convenient features include a rearview camera and parking sensors, leather seats, auto-dimming rearview mirror, projector headlights, and USB/AUX/Bluetooth ports.
Starting from September 3rd, Suzuki will be accepting orders for the Ciaz from Indian customers. The Suzuki Ciaz will officially hit the Indian market in mid-October. The selling price of the Suzuki Ciaz has not been announced yet; however, based on tradition in the Indian market, the Suzuki Ciaz is expected to have a competitive price point.
