The new Kia Sonet 2024: A stunning and feature-packed rival to the Toyota Raize in Vietnam.

Yesterday, on December 14, 2023, Kia introduced the upgraded version of the Sonet SUV in the Indian market. The new version brings updates to the exterior design, as well as additional convenience and safety features.

Exterior Design of the Kia Sonet 2024

As leaked images suggested, the Kia Sonet 2024 now features new exterior design details. This is evident in the front of the car, where the “tiger-nose” grille has been improved and new LED headlights have been added. The headlights have a sleeker design and come with a daytime running LED strip and turn signal lights inspired by star maps, similar to other Kia models. Additionally, the car now has a new front bumper with horizontally placed LED fog lights and a sportier silver skid plate compared to the previous version.

The side profile of the new Kia Sonet remains unchanged, except for the alloy wheels. In the Indian market, customers can choose between 4 types of alloy wheels with diameters of 15 inches and 16 inches.

At the rear, the Kia Sonet 2024 is equipped with new “C-shaped” LED taillights. These taillights are connected by a thin LED strip running horizontally across the tailgate, similar to the new Kia Seltos. The rear bumper also features a more sporty silver skid plate.

In the Indian market, the Kia Sonet 2024 offers 3 exterior design packages: Tech Line, GT Line, and X-Line. The Tech Line variant features different front/rear bumpers and vertically placed front fog lights. The X-Line variant features the exclusive Matte Graphite paint color, while the GT Line features additional chrome accent details on the grille.

When purchasing the Kia Sonet 2024, customers in India can choose between a single-tone or dual-tone version. The car also offers a new Pewter Olive color option.

Interior Design of the Kia Sonet 2024

The interior design of the Kia Sonet 2024 remains unchanged. However, Kia has added new features to the interior.

Inside the car, users will find a new 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, similar to the one used in the Kia Seltos. Additionally, there is a new screen for displaying information about the air conditioning system, located between the two air vents. The car also features physical buttons for air conditioning control, traction control system, and drive mode selection. The seats now have new upholstery materials and cooling features for the front seats.

The rest of the equipment remains the same as before, including a 4-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a Bose 7-speaker audio system, automatic air conditioning with an air filtration system, a power sunroof, interior ambient lighting, and voice-controlled Alexa.

The Kia Sonet 2024 is available in 5 interior colors in India, including the new black with brown combination. The Sage Green interior color is exclusive to the X-Line variant.

Safety Features of the Kia Sonet 2024

One of the major changes in the Kia Sonet 2024 in India is the addition of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS). The SUV now comes with 8 ADAS features, including lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, driver attention warning, lane follow assist, high beam assist, early collision warning and avoidance assist, and forward vehicle start alert. These features make the car comply with level 1 autonomous driving standards.

In addition to the ADAS features, the Kia Sonet 2024 also comes with new rear disc brakes, an important safety upgrade. The car is equipped with 6 airbags, hill start assist, a tire pressure monitoring system, electronic stability control, and in higher variants, a 360-degree camera, blind-spot collision warning, and front parking sensors.

Engines of the Kia Sonet 2024

The Kia Sonet 2024 in India retains the same engine options as before. Customers can choose from 3 engines:

The first option is a naturally aspirated 1.2L 4-cylinder petrol engine, producing a maximum power of 83 horsepower. This engine is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission.

The second option is a turbocharged 1.0L 3-cylinder petrol engine, producing a maximum power of 120 horsepower. This engine can be paired with a 6-speed intelligent manual transmission (iMT) or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The third option is a 1.5L 4-cylinder diesel engine, producing a maximum power of 116 horsepower. This engine is available with a 6-speed intelligent manual transmission (iMT), a 6-speed manual transmission, or a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Prices of the Kia Sonet 2024

The Kia Sonet 2024 in India offers 7 trim levels: HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX, HTX+, GTX, and X-Line. The prices for this A-segment SUV will be announced in January 2024. The car will continue to compete against rivals such as the Hyundai Venue, Suzuki Brezza, and Nissan Magnite.
