TVS Motor, an Indian motorcycle company, has recently entered the Vietnam market through its distributor Minh Long Motors. With its strong sales volume and ranking as the 4th largest motorcycle manufacturer in the world, TVS Motor is now bringing 5 models of scooters and motorcycles to Vietnam.
As an initial step into the Vietnam market, TVS Motor has chosen not to build a factory and instead partnered with Minh Long Motor to introduce 5 new motorcycle models to customers. These models include TVS Ntorq 125 scooters, Callisto 110, Callisto 125, TVS Dazz 110 scooters, and TVS Rockz 125 automatic motorcycles.
In order to compete with other brands, TVS motorcycles offer affordable prices. For example, the TVS Ntorq 125 scooter is priced between 32.9 and 35.9 million VND. The TVS Callisto 110 and Callisto 125 models range from 29.5 to 34.9 million VND. The TVS Dazz 110 scooter is priced at 25.9 million VND, while the TVS Rockz 125 motorcycle is priced at 25.8 million VND. All of these models come with a 3-year or 30,000 km warranty, whichever comes first.
Based on the prices mentioned above, the TVS Rockz motorcycle is expected to be the most accessible option for users. It will compete with Honda Future (30.5 million VND) and Yamaha Jupiter FI (30 million VND) in the 125cc motorcycle segment.
Meanwhile, the Ntorq scooter stands out with its modern technologies and has gained high anticipation. It has similar dimensions to the Honda Air Balde (42.8-57.9 million VND) but comes with a much lower price tag.
The Ntorq scooter is equipped with various advanced technologies, including phone connectivity, voice commands, social media notifications, trip information, and more, all displayed on a full LCD screen.
Vietnam has been a significant consumer of motorcycles worldwide, with Honda dominating about 80% of the market share. TVS Motor Chairman, Mr. J Thangarajan, believes that despite the strong competition from brands like Honda and Yamaha, Vietnamese people are open to new options, especially quality products at affordable prices.
Although TVS did not specify its sales target in Vietnam, the company plans to establish a network of 300 dealers, mainly in the southern region. Currently, TVS motorcycles will be imported from Indonesia. If the sales performance meets expectations, setting up a domestic motorcycle assembly plant is a possibility.
