A Vietnamese car manufacturer has started selling cars through the Leith Automotive dealership in the Triangle area, which is an urban area in Eastern North Carolina, including the cities of Raleigh, Durham, and Cary.
Recently, VinFast announced the opening of its first independent dealership in the United States. The company is building a $4 billion electric vehicle factory, which is expected to start operations in 2026. VinFast has partnered with Leith Automotive to begin selling cars at a dealership in Cary Auto Park, Cary, North Carolina. This dealership is located near the company’s electric vehicle factory, currently under construction in Chatham County.
According to Reuters, Leith VinFast, also known as Leith, will provide sales, repair, maintenance, and spare parts services for VinFast vehicles.
In an interview with Reuters in August 2023, VinFast’s global CEO stated that the company is changing its distribution model. Previously, VinFast applied a direct-to-consumer sales approach similar to Tesla. However, along with direct sales, the company will now partner with independent dealerships to drive sales.
These dealerships will initially distribute the VinFast VF 8. Subsequently, other models such as the VinFast VF 9, VF 6, and VF 7 may also be included. It is unclear whether the VF 3 will be officially available for sale in the United States or only for introduction. VinFast’s manufacturing plant in North Carolina is expected to produce 150,000 vehicles per year after completion in 2025.
Last month, VinFast announced that the company has received 70 cooperation proposals from dealerships across the United States. If cooperation agreements are reached, VinFast will distribute electric vehicles through 125 sales points nationwide.
